Today's Pairs are The expected flowering of Echinacea-White Swan variety (Coneflower) which grow in my front garden, along with the Oddity of the flower. This variety has been growing for about 3 years but this year the flowers are doing something quite odd. NO petals on some flowers. I have never seen this happen before nor could I find anything about this oddity on the internet. As there are now several flowers without petals, I am going to believe that I have developed a new strain of the plant. If this continues I am going to try and separate this part of the plant and name them Patio Petal-Less or maybe Patio Petal Lass or maybe Patio's Odd Less.

loving patio petal lass - and the more common petalled variety!
ReplyDeleteThanks Helena - as the clump blooms more the blend of the two is quite a nice blend.
DeleteI really like the second one more!
ReplyDeleteRinda
Thanks Rinda. Now that I have stopped worrying about it, I am liking it.
DeleteI love these... but how to break it to you ...petal-less ones are discussed here:

I do like the ones without petals almost more than I like the delicacy of the ones with the beautiful drooping white petals.
Eileen thanks for the link. I think I like the petal less, so now I am searching to see if the pink variety do the same.
DeleteOh dear they do look a bit sad without the petals. I'm going to read Eileen 's link now.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought it was insects eating but no just the way they are - I wonder if they have been listening to Lady Gaga!
DeleteI'm none the wiser but I do like the lower pompom!
ReplyDeleteAh yes like a pompom ... um that puts Patio Pompom on the least of names.
DeleteActually, the second one is quite beautiful, even if it is unexpected.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen. Gardening certainly delivering lots of the unexpected and I am trying to move with the flow.
DeleteOne of the joys of gardening.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
