Memorandum Monday - January 25th

Linking in with Sian at: http://fromhighinthesky.blogspot.ca/
Sian asks us to share anything new we have done or learnt over the previous week / weekend.

I haven't been into downtown Toronto in probably 6-7 years & even then it was really at the west end of the city to attend The Royal Winter Fair.  Being of an anxious personality, the largest & rushness of the city was very stressful for me, which in turn made it stressful for Mr Man.  So not only was he worried about his eye but worried about me. I was anxious about the possibility of having me drive us home if surgery was done.   I applied some new breathing techniques I have learnt to aid in reducing anxiety in stressful situations.

Both the eye & I came through with positive results.  Mr Man's eye showed no further damage & more importantly there seemed to be some tiny improvement shown in the scans, so the decision for further surgery is being delayed. This new to us Doctor says he would try a particular medication before opting for surgery.  A medication we have not been told about before!  Follow up appointment is end of February, which means another trip to the big city.

To celebrate we went to a new to us restaurant for lunch.

  3. That all sounds very positive on the eye front. I would find the city driving stressful too. Have a great week Mary-Lou.

  4. That sounds like really good news! I'm so glad.

City driving? If there is one thing guaranteed to make me talk about moving to the country, it's an afternoon on our busiest road here. I'm so admiring of TSO and her friends actually having to learn to drive in it.

    Have a good week

  5. What super news - prayers said that the new drugs will work well. I don't mind driving but do find unfamiliar big cities stressful (more when I have to get somewhere on time than when I am heading home though). Have a lovely week x

  6. Mary-Lou. Well done on managing a stressful situation so well. Glad you rewarded yourselves with a new eating experience, which I notice has a "horse" reference, one of your favourite interests. Hope Mr. Man's sight is 20/20.

  7. Great eye news!
I remember my first trip to the big city after 10 weeks' henro walking. It was very stressful and took time to acclimatise. Can't imagine always feeling like that, must be awful.

    1. Toronto has quickly become HUGE. I have never been a fan of cities & with so much construction, the old routes are never direct anymore. Now that I know my route, it will be much calmer.

    1. It's needing always to know my exit point, that is my first focus in stressful situations, once I know that, deep slow breathes.

  13. Hope the medication is a success. I usually hate big cities even when not driving but I did love Toronto when we came to Canada 16 years ago - I was very impressed with the PATH system - we could disappear to the basement of our hotel and then pop up in the railway station over the road - a fab idea for when the weather is bad and it saves trying to cross the roads too. Wishing you a great week!!
