Happy Monkey Year To All.
I did not have a bridal shower when Mr Man & I got married, which did /does not bother me but I would like a shower now - replenishing & renewing the linens is expensive. Over the last year I have picked up a couple sets of new towels when on sale & a set of bedding sheets when a pattern or colour I like are on sale. This weekend I bought some new sheets through Costco, as the pattern really caught my eye. It's a queen set, in a pretty floral pattern, Mr Man made a face when I put into the basket - "those?" Yes I want some pretty while I'm sleeping.
The next new item I purchased in economy stimulus was a new pan. The one this is replacing has been in active service for at least 4 years, plus it was not a quality pan. I have not found many deep pans, which I need for 2 specific dinners I make. The bonus on this new pan is that it has a lid. Such an item makes me very happy & now in the weekly meal plans, my family recipe of Goulash is on the menu, oh the yummyness requires a deep pan. Also new, I am for this recipe, replacing the traditional pasta with quinoa. Of late I am trying to health up old recipes - a challenge for sure.
My third new purchase is going to be returned. When I was purchasing I asked several times & explained my needs several times to the sales person what I wanted, to be heartily reassured "oh yes, exactly". Once home & un-bundled, it is NOT exactly want I want. In the News (again) last week, is the warning that many of the health trackers, not only track your steps, heartbeat & calories burned, it tracks a whole lot of other things about you, plus when the info is connected to your phone or computer, the information on your devices is track-able as in hack-able. The makers of many of these tracking devices freely admit that their software is & has been hacked. No thank you, there is enough risk out there as it is. So this purchase gets returned later today (Monday). Back to the WW broken pedometer.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week ahead of then.
What a nice bunch of FUN new purchases! I like the size of that pan! We bought a set of really expensive stainless steel w/cast iron interiors pans years ago, so it's been a long time since I've even looked at pans. But for Christmas my parents found us a huge turkey roaster that I'd been searching for! :)
ReplyDeletePans & pots are not really much fun to shop for, but when need arises :) When looking I was amazed at what a complete set costs - wow, a small country could be bought!
Deletelol! Yes, I think my sister would describe me as an underbuyer too. Then she rolls her eyes when I eventually cave in, buy it and say "Ooh, I should have got one of these years ago".
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new purchases and have a good week!
I like to think of our style of shopping as cautious, that way we have few regrets. :)
DeleteGrrrr to salespeople who browbeat you into purchases that they know full-well do not meet your needs. I definitely wouldn't want that fitbit either - good luck with finding a suitable alternative (and when you do, let me know :o) )
ReplyDeleteHave a good week, and enjoy your other treats!
I think a clip on pedometer is going to work best for me. The Weight Watchers one is really good except the clip keeps breaking (plastic). I need to find a way to reinforce the clip & then I'm off to my 10,000 a day. :)
DeleteFunnily enough we had to replace two pans recently, because I decided it was better to give my son the old ones for Uni and get some new ones ourselves! Enjoy your new pan and the avocado toast tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteOh and I'm a monkey!
ReplyDeleteI just heard on TV that you & the Rat are going to have a good year especially if you join forces. Cheers to making this Your Year! :)
DeleteThat's handy, my husband's a Rat!
DeleteI like the floral bedding. I'll be on the hunt for new saucepans soon as I'll be having an induction hob in my new kitchen and my current pans won't work on induction. They're really old but still have a few years left in them so will be passed on to a friend's daughter who has just moved into her own place.
ReplyDeleteOh a new hob - I have been reading about induction cooking, so far no one in my circle has one, so I cannot check out first hand. I will look forward to hearing how you like it. Nice that pots do not wear out the same as sheets.
DeleteI recently got a great buy on two new pans which we needed and are enjoying. They didn't come with lids, but luckily I had two that fit perfectly. Rarely do I need a lid on the dutch oven and the skillet at the same time. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI am overall shocked at the cost of pots & pans. My main batch I got at shop closing plus the line was discontinued & thankfully the lids interchange. Lids take up a lot of cupboard space.
DeleteNever knew this about fitness trackers! Food for thought.
ReplyDeleteOh I think it must be the year (or month) of the new pan as I have had to buy 2 new ones!
ReplyDeleteYes it does seem that theme run in common throughout the universe - it is one of the things that make blogging so interesting. :)
DeleteHmm, when we get home I'll have to read up on the fitness tracker issue. We don't get much news on the ship other than US politics. Hmm, I think I have that exact pan and got it at Costco too.
ReplyDeleteThere will also be another recent story about Manual Life offering people better rates on insurance if they were one, so they can track you; freely admitted.
DeleteOh lovely new purchases and happy new year. I'm a dragon and apparently the year of the monkey is good luck for the dragon
ReplyDeleteWell Ms Dragon I wish you a wonderful Monkey year, let us hope that it is a good year for all, especially all the areas needing some luck & peace :)
DeletePretty bedding and another one who didn't realise about Fitbit issues..off to research! Xx
