Having just enjoyed a couple of weeks off from blogging & blog reading, & in keeping with Sian's theme of what's new or a first, on this Monday, I am happy to report from the patio all the new here.
New plants for our gardens; a red & white Rose of Sharon & a red Hardy Hibiscus. I chose the colours in keeping with the plans for a red & white floral front garden display next year as Canada celebrates being a nation for a 150 years. I also bought 2 kinds of red & white tulips. Oh the plans!

Last week I celebrated a birthday. Of course that is not new, I do it every year. What was new about this birthday was the plans I made to celebrate actually turned out according to plans along with some bonus moments. Normally I live in Plan T or Z ... very rare for a Plan A to work out.
Planned for a horse drawn carriage ride through the Niagara Botanical Gardens. Bonus; we were the only ones in the carriage & our driver took a little longer in the drive.

Planned for tea at The Prince of Wales Hotel in Niagara On The Lake. Bonus; we were seated by the window in the conservatory. Bonus PLUS; a couple sitting near us had taken a photo of us together (I had asked) & a little later two glasses of pink champagne with strawberries arrived at our table purchased by this couple. The gentlemen said birthdays need to be celebrated in style. I was so overwhelmed by this true act of random kindness, I cried. Not the ugly cry, but the nice big fat joyful tears (truly a bonus in that my eye makeup did not run).
And new this season, rain, the last weekend 2 days of on/off rain!
My thought for the week; "Sometimes I think I'm diagonally parked in a parallel universe" ... Diana Britt
what joyous plans and bonuses - hope you have a lovely week
ReplyDeleteThanks Helena & so far it has been a good week.
DeleteWhat lovely bonuses you enjoyed! What a lovely gesture from the gentleman in the restaurant, I think I'd have cried big happy tears over that too.
ReplyDeleteNormally I am not pretty crier ...but thankfully I kept it together, mostly...
DeleteIt sounds like you had a lovely time and I'm so pleased that it all went according to plan!
ReplyDeleteI could get use to Plan A(s) working out.
DeleteHappy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteHoping the rest of the week has at least one more act of random kindness in it :)
Thank you & so far it is a good one.
DeleteHow lovely! That looks like a great plan for a birthday celebration, and I'm happy it turned out so well. How far from Niagara-on-the-Lake are you?
ReplyDeleteOn a good drive day it would take just over 2 hours. I was so impressed with the gardens, everything was so lush.
DeleteSounds like a lovely break! Happy belated birthday!
ReplyDeleteThank you Melissa. I did enjoy my break.
DeleteHow nice for you and your fella to trot around with Tom & Tom. And I can understand how the random kindness of strangers can make your eyes well up. What a lovely way to celebrate your birthday. And let me add my belated happy wishes too!
ReplyDeleteThank you Susanne. We did have such a lovely day out. I could get use to such birthday celebrations.
DeleteNothing really to add that hasn't been said! Glad to hear it all went off so well - I was thinking of you and wondering whether you went for it in the end. The champagne story is very special.
ReplyDeleteAlways glad to see you pop in on the patio. Ah yes my champagne was soooo sweet in all regards. That feeling of kindness has carried me forward for several days.
DeleteWhat a nice set of photos. My brother and family have just visited Niagara - looking forward to scrapping those.
ReplyDeleteOh I look forward to seeing those scrap layouts. At this time of year, Niagara (Falls) is quite busy & no matter how many times I see the falls, I gasp at the wonderment.
DeleteHappy belated birthday to you!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds and looks like you did celebrate it in style!
Thank you. I do hope you become a regular with Memorandum Mondays.
DeleteHappy belated birthday and I am so glad you were able to celebrate it as planned. How lovely to receive the glasses of pink champagne from your fellow diners!
ReplyDeleteBut, my main reason for commenting on this post is the quote you posted for your thought of the day! Because you credited Diana Britt and I know her! She was one of my supervisors at work (many many moons ago) and she is now someone I consider as a dear friend! Isn't the world a small place?
