What is new from the patio? Even though all the patio furniture is put away, it seems we, Mr Man & myself, are not the only ones that enjoy a sit on the patio. This is Charlie, our resident American Gray Squirrel & an Eastern Red Chipmunk, Chippy. Normally Charlie will chase other squirrels & chipmunks away. Being this close together is new & Charlie was making some growling sounds - he does not like to share.
We had new view of Guelph Lake. I think the lake is at its lowest level. I certainly cannot remember it ever been so empty! Guelph Lake is a created lake, part of the Grand Valley's system of flood control.

Normally you cannot see the sand/dirt & in the first photo of causeway (road) you can see a water stained line in the stones. All evidence of a dry summer. Autumn is not providing us normal levels of rain either. Thankfully forecasts are for a snowy winter. Thankfully you say? Yes in our weather world, we need a good amount of snow for protective coverage of most plants & then the snow becomes water & potential for rain making. Dry winter, dry summer = not good. This was something not so new to me but overheard recently in farmer discussions at the physio clinic.
Mr Man had a scheduled surgery date of October 13th but has been postponed due to surgeon's emergency schedule. New surgery date is Monday October 24th.
We finally have hired someone for front desk/reception coverage at the physio clinic - our new staff member, Victoria, starts today for training. After Mr Man's surgery, I plan to take a few weeks off to tend to him.
Hope everyone has a marvellous week ahead of them. I will leave you with this thought for the week: I was quiet, but I was not blind. Jane Austen
fascinating to see your 2 visitors together - they must be tasty nuts for them to be willing to share. Hope the new colleague goes well and have a good week
ReplyDeleteThat photo was a very happen stance & I quickly snapped hoping to get at least 1 in focus - rewarded! So far new colleague is doing well.
DeleteI don't think I've ever seen a chipmunk in real life.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping the days before surgery pass quickly and with as little worry as possible and that the new work colleague is able to take some of the strain
Oh, no chipmunks in Ireland - well that really is a blessing, they can be a problem. Chipmunks are true little charmers & win everyone over easily & they quickly know who is a source of food. Pesky.
DeleteOh my! That first photo takes the cake!!!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet!
Thank You~
Thanks Alexandra - Charlie does like to have his picture taken - I think he would be a selfie kind of squirrel ...
DeleteLovin' the pic of little and large!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear the op got postponed - I was wondering how it had gone. All the best for a successful outcome and some quality convalescing.
Meredith looks resplendent amongst that firey foliage!
Meredith is now inside for the winter, she adds so much charm to my garden. Thanks for clarity on Mountain Ash. :)
DeleteSorry to hear the op has been postponed, lets hope all is well for next week.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of Charlie and his friend. I went to a lake at the weekend which was also very low.
Charlie was posing this morning in the rain - it was him & the Blue Jays this morning (the birds not the baseball team).
DeleteI'll be keeping Mr. Man in my thoughts and prayers next week. It must be difficult to have had it postponed, as I'm sure you're both anxious about it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen for your thoughts & prayers. We both just want the surgery over with & the healing time to begin. Patience is not a strong a strong suit for either of us.
DeleteThe black and grey mutant squirrels have chased or killed all of our red squirrels here in town :(
ReplyDeleteWe still have 1 red squirrel, Lucy & no one is messing with her! She is a fierce little one.
DeleteWe are getting a bit of rain here these days, but the temperature cannot decide if it is summer or fall. Your little visitors are cute, even if not friendly, cohorts.
