It's been SO long, too long, since I joined in with Sandie's 5 in 5 On The 5th. You can find out more about this lovely prompt here: 5-in-5-December-2019
My five today are little handmade, knitted or crochet ornaments I have been gifted over the years. Each is so very special to me because of the gifter (is there such a word, not according to spell check) & the time it took to make. Every year when I place out I have a little thought towards the crafter who made (spell check doesn't like this word either).
These five are part of my Christmas Joy.
I have a few crocheted ornaments like yours, and I always enjoy seeing them on the tree. I'm particularly impressed by that tree in your bottom photo. I've never seen anything like it.
ReplyDeleteI like those special meaningful ornaments the best, although not all are made.
DeleteThat's a lovely and very festive 5 in 5, and how special that you still honour them so.
ReplyDeleteI'm fortunate to have yarn crafting friends.
DeleteOh, these are lovely.
ReplyDeleteYou've prompted me to do the 5 in 5 posts again. Thanks.
Every month I kept meaning to join Sandie but it just escaped my plans.
DeleteThey are lovely! I will have to see if I can find five of something before the fifth is over.
ReplyDeleteOh yes Chris do join in with Sandie's 5 in 5 on the 5th, you have until the 25th (her rules not mine).
DeleteI can see why they're special! I have quite a collection of hand-crafted
ReplyDeleteornaments for Christmas and each one brings memories of the person who created it!
All part of the joy box of Christmas.
DeleteWhat a lovely assortment you have! Thanks for the angel pic ... it will be a challenge for me but I will investigate. I have a year to learn!
ReplyDeleteGlad the tree is still going strong. :o)
The tree always has a special place at Christmas so it is carefully wrapped up at the end of the season.
DeleteI love that crochet angel!
ReplyDeleteI would like a few more, but alas that friend has moved on from making & will not be encourage to make more. Not sure how hard it was to make.
DeleteIs that a whole tree that you have crocheted? Wow, how intricate!
ReplyDeleteOh no Deb I'm not a crocheter, the tree was a gift from a friend who is very gifted in her many talents, both of the yarn types & food/baking types of crafting.
DeleteThose are just so charming. Love the tree especially!
ReplyDeleteI'm blessed to have some generous & talented friends in my life.
DeleteMary-Lou, belated best wishes and thanks for joining in with 5in5. I intended to comment at the time but I was at a conference and meant to revisit. Clearly with being away then Christmas I never did! I wanted to say how much I enjoyed your post and seeing your beautiful gifts from friends. Crochet is something I would like to do more of and I am admiring of your friend's skills because I can manage a square and anything else would be a challenge LOL. It is lovely that you pay these decorations respect and think of the gifter (it's a good word regardless what Google says!) when you hang them each year. I hope you had a lovely time over the festive season. I have spent my afternoon packing my Christmas decorations away for another year with intention that next time I will make it a time to enjoy them and appreciate the unwrapping more. Wishing you health and happiness for the coming year xx
