I find it interesting that when someone asks whether you have had the vaccine jab/shot, it's just assumed it's the COVID-19 vaccine.
And while we are on the topic of COVID-19, Ontario extended the current lockdown to June 2nd. Can you hear the uproar!
So to more pleasant topics ...
Currently Reading: Chatter. IMO, the author interviewed so much more interesting than the reading/writing of his book. Waiting to begin, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontent & The Museum of Desire.
Currently Chuffed As Little Mint Balls: the late blooming tulips seem to be off the squirrel menu!
Currently Fed Up: with the ginger & the whinger. I wish they/he would just shut up.
Currently Happy: this sight, made Mr Man very happy. It's the street sweeper making their one & only trip around the neighbourhood to clean up the winter's sand/salt laid down on icy roads.
Currently Thrilled: at the sight of the Crab Trees blossoming on one of the university's roads. It seems locally, the Crabs are having a fabulous spring. Thank you Mother Nature.
And I will leave you with this thought from my current state of mind .... "3 out of 4 voices in my head want to sleep... the 4th is asking if penguins have knees."
"Have you had the jab?" and "Which one?" have definitely entered the vocabulary. :) Glad you've had no side effects.

"have you had the jab" was the way three phone calls started last week. G&W are a perfect example of when you believe your own press ... & that's never a good thing.

You can tell I am not a fan of the G & W. It is surprising what the mind races to at 2-3am. Some of my thoughts are far too twisted even for colour t.v.
DeleteI'm glad you've had no trouble with the vaccine. A little soreness is the only after-effect we had, too. The striped tulips are a treat to see. Around here most all of what I see are red ones and some yellows. They're all pretty :) Those crabapple trees are putting on quite a show!
ReplyDeleteMy stripe tulips were all purchased the year Canada turned 150 yrs old, 2017. I do like the combo of yellow & red tulips together. Our neighbour has a crab just about to bloom, I have my camera at the ready.
DeleteThe first tulips remind of the the Canada 150 tulip, but I figure they can't be bc they didn't do very well, at least not beyond the first season around here
ReplyDeleteThe first tulip photo is indeed the Canada 150 tulip & I am so pleased how well they do. I feed them bone meal just after blooming & again in the Autumn before freeze up. The other striped tulips I cannot remember what they are called.

We had Pfizer for our COVID vaccine. The more Harry talks the deeper & bigger the hole he digs himself into. In the recent podcast, he said Meghan made him go for therapy for his anger (this while still in England) ... umm I say, odd that Meghan says she couldn't go for therapy while in England, she wasn't allowed. Just more untruths revealed.

DeleteI really don’t like the word jab ( my paediatric background I suspect) but I have recently found myself using it. I have now thankfully had both of mine and no side effects!

So very nice to hear from you Maggie. Good to hear that you have had both jabs. Was there another word used in paediatric care for getting a needle? I think jab came about to try & soften but it too does have a rather aggressive sound to it but less so than getting a shot. I could say many other things about Harry & Meghan ...

The adults of society have lost all reasoning & our Premiere has lost all confidence of the citizens - we are a study in self entitlement, selfish behaviour ... I'll rant no more, for now.
DeleteOh goodness, that's such a bummer about the extended lockdown! Pretty much everything is open & in full swing here, although we are still staying home most of the time. Because the CDC removed the mask mandate for vaccinated people, anyone can go without a mask now it seems.
ReplyDeleteI saw what your CDC said about masks ... IMO a little too early for that. No word yet as to how things will open up, but it will be slow, our new cases & those requiring ICU care in hospital are still quite high.
DeleteYour tulips are gorgeous and I am so glad that the squirrels have left them alone so you can enjoy them! I tried growing tulips here, but, they are annuals for us. I didn't try to dig them up and overwinter them in a fridge to try planting again the next spring (don't really have a spare fridge for that!). I don't want to buy new bulbs every year, either, so, no more tulips! Same with the daffodils I planted. Only the narcissus (paperwhites) come up, year after year.

Such pretty tulips - the remind me of sticks of striped candy rock at the seaside. Glad the squirrels are giving them a miss! It's great when we see our neighbourhood being tidied and cleaned up, isn't it. Pleased your first vaccine went well - I had more reaction to the first one than the second.
