What a stunning collection! The lilies in our front garden are coming into bloom - they're orange - the ones in the pot on the back patio have finished flowering.
It would be so easy to add (col). There's a daylily developer in our region & the summer before COVID (2019) we attended his open house & it is fascinating how he develops new varieties.
Thanks Lady Ella. I look forward to seeing your new fave. I never tire of seeing what new daylily blooms are out each morning & thankfully I have early, mid & late bloomers to make that joy last & last.
Lady Ella ... LOL; ah but I did say I saw some beautiful two tone oranges, so while not a colour I plant, I do admire. Orange & Burgundy is quite a colour combo, so now we must see your beauty!
Your daylilies are beautiful! I used to have a yellow daylily plant at one time, but, it died after blooming the first year! I didn't try to grow them after that.
Oh Bless that is so sad. I wonder if the soil & intense heat of California does them in. I am most thankful that our region seems to encourage daylilies to thrive in gardens & in the wild.
Wow! What a beautiful collection! We have only yellow ones, and the deer ate all the flowers while we were gone. Luckily, they've begun to bloom again.
That is glorious that the daylilies are continuing to thrive with new flowers. I've read that daylily blooms are human edible, not that I've tried, but I've seen a recipe that requires the opening flower to be sauté.
You certainly have a wide variety of these beautiful flowers - how pretty.
ReplyDeleteI think I could happily add more, it is such an easy plant to care for in our climate.
DeleteThey're beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I think so too. :)

ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of the colour orange or gold in my garden, I've seen in other gardens some beautiful two tone orange ones.
DeleteWow you have a lot! The pinky / purply ones are gorgeous. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenn. The new to me ones are really an amazing flower, they are large & quite thick & stand up to the rain quite well. I want more!
DeleteDaylilies are one of my favorite flowers, so "duchess of the garden" sounds like the perfect title for them :)
ReplyDeleteThey are such a rewarding plant to grow, require little attention & reward abundantly.
DeleteDaylilies thrive in our miserable patch by the driveway, but ours are all yellow. Maybe we should have gone for variety.

DeleteThey are lovely. Dad gave me one last year, which a friend had given him, and it has the most stunning bloom! A new fave. Will post a photo some time.

DeleteI will share a photo some time, however having read above comments I fear you won't like it: it's orange and burgundy!
