Most people don't want to be part of the process, they just want to be part of the outcome. But the process is where you figure out who is worth being part of the outcome.
I think you learn a lot more than that when you're part of the process. Most importantly, you learn more about yourself and how important (or not) the outcome is to you.
Personally I would have said "who's earned it during the process to be there at the outcome" I'm not keen on the use of worth it.
