Have a peek at what others have found this week:

This week what I noticed was from last Sunday's adventure to discovering a new to us tea room. This town had a lovely, friendly & inviting downtown area. Some of what made it inviting was all the beautiful full & lush floral arrangements; lamp post hanging basket, huge cement planters along with some smaller planters. There were also lots of table & chairs outside the cafes & restaurants, benches & lots of waste bins so that there was no garbage thrown about. After tea, we wandered about for about an hour, just strolling up & down the street & window shopping.
They are beautiful. Niagara-on-the-Lake always has gorgeous flower displays throughout town as well.
ReplyDeleteNiagara-on-the-Lake is an example of how to encourage visitors with beautiful gardens. Our little community cannot put floral displays along the main highway through town as we don't "own" the highway; if we bought the rights to the provincial highway, taxes would soar as we would then be responsible for ALL highway maintenance for that piece of road. A little village just east of us did & now they are buckling under the costs & it's the winter maintenance costs that go up every year. Although I think our community could be encouraged to make more of an effort.
DeleteThey look lovely. Do you have any floral town competitions! We have Britain in Bloom which has city, town and village categories. Bath often does well.
ReplyDeleteThere use to be one that I was aware of, Communities in Bloom, but I haven't seen anything recently about any gardening encouragement.
DeleteOH, how lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you Melissa.
DeleteSuch pretty and colourful photos! A lot of our towns in this area have hanging baskets and boxes attached to railing so flowers tumble over either side. Doesn't it make a difference to see these lovely flower tubs? I like your new meme and will try and join in.
ReplyDeleteYour joining in when ever the mood takes you would be lovely - I cannot wait to see what you have noticed. I agree the flower planters make such a difference. Our little village really needs to figure this out.
