Take Three Thursday - Take It Outside

In an effort to notice more of the ordinary in my life, I have decided to share what I have noticed this week in Take Three Thursday.

The idea is to take photos that are linked some how; by theme, by colour, by date, by moment,  by points of view. There is no formal link in but please feel free to join in. What have you noticed this week?

Have a peek at what others have found this week:

Over the last couple of weeks, we have been visiting other small communities that seem to have figured out how to invite visitors & make them feel welcome to sit & stay awhile.  One thing I particularly noticed was all the beautiful outdoor patios & not just because this is an item on the photo scavenger hunt.  Our little village is often bemoaning that there isn't any tourists or visitors.  One thing I think would help, is to have outdoor seating, cafe tables with chairs, an outdoor patio that invites visitors to linger (& spend money at our shops).  Right now our community is a drive through, people are either coming or going to the communities on other side of us.

These are just 3 of my many favourites.  One little town had over 10 places to sit & enjoy a snack, a beverage or just a rest.

  1. The one with the blue umbrellas looks very inviting.

    1. There were all so welcoming, not only because they were there, but clean, so you knew you could sit without fear of goo from someone else.

  2. Granted, we're a good-sized city, but we have many options for eating outside, and I take advantage of them all summer. My favorite is one overlooking the Barge Canal in Bushnell's Basin. I love the patio in your second photo!

    1. Thank Karen. I wish we had some lovely sitting spots in our village & we even have a river running through the middle which you would think should invite a sit down.

  3. I hadn't thought of a patio for outside relaxing space - how daft! Equally daft that entrepreneurs in your community haven't cottoned on to the fact that a patio would be a boom to their businesses. Our patios are year-round these days (which actually I don't agree with - all those outdoor fires burning constantly during the winter...)

    1. Boom or boon, both would be appropriate. Please do not get me started on out door fit pits running all hours all year ... I'll say no more for now.

  4. Fifteen years ago here, you'd never have seen a pavement café; now there are lots of little corners to sit outside and cafés and restaurants are being ingenious in re-designing little spaces 'out the back' for a table and chair or two as well. I love the look of that second one - so green and spacious. But even the first, has a 'do pop in for a quick something' feel. Hoping more of it comes your way - 'drive-through' doesn't sound so welcoming. I like the unusual themes you are choosing.

    1. Right now our little community is going through some growing pains which include a lot of youth vandalism, so I think most businesses are very reluctant to put anything out that would encourage theft and/or vandalism.
