Take Three Thursday

In an effort to notice more of the ordinary in my life, I have decided to share what I have noticed this week in Take Three Thursday.   The idea is to take photos that are linked some how; by theme, by colour, by date, by moment,  by points of view. There is no formal link in but please feel free to join in. What have you noticed this week?

This week I am combining two things; Sandie's Five In Five On The Fifth along with my three for Thursday.

One of the things I noticed this week had two stages to it.  Stage one = admiring the scenes from blogs that I read, about their hikes and or walks about the countryside.  Just beauty being enjoyed.
Mel's Walk At Malham Cove
Lady Ella's Historic-walk

Stage two = my remembering a time & weather when we would get out & admire the countryside.  For what ever reason, we just don't seem to be having the walks & discovery that we use to have ... it makes me sad & it makes me resolved to push ourselves outside & now that the weather (please don't judge Spring by today's horrible wintery weather) is improving we have no valid excuses.

So today my 5/5 & 3/3 are from my scrap book pages of waterfalls we use to visit & walk about.  Three waterfalls.

Washboard Waterfalls is my all time favourite; we visited in the Autumn.  I realize that there is some glare on the photos, it's so dull outside, the flash is required - but even diffused it gives glare ...

Tews Waterfalls at one time was bigger than the almighty Niagara Falls. We visited in Winter.

Kakabeka Falls - we visited in early spring & there is a frightening amount of water that goes over this falls & the rushing urgency of the water is loud & rather un-nerving.

Please go have a peek what others are sharing with Sandie this day.

  1. We don't have waterfalls near us, but I've been on vacations where I've seen them. I love yours!

    1. We are very blessed to have such diverse beauty around us, I feel we are missing so much of it lately.

  2. Love visiting waterfalls, and the Washboard Fall in your picture looks unusual and very striking. If I lived where you do, I too would want to spend time around the falls.

    1. Washboard Falls had everything for me; trees in the forest setting that were not too thick that you couldn't see around them, the waterfalls, the different elevations of the land but not too much that you couldn't easily hike about.

  3. I always think I'll do Sandie's meme on the 5th, but once again, it didn't happen. I think the 2+ inches of snow did me in. It melted during the day, but we continue to get snow squalls. Hard to think about visiting waterfalls on a day like this. Your layouts are lovely.

    1. I missed the last two 5in5 as I just couldn't find the inspiration. I had plans for something else but the snow again just flatten my ideas. Looking back at my albums of the waterfalls makes me desperate for nicer weather soon!

  4. Washboard is a great name for a waterfall and is quite appropriate in this case. I will have to have a closer look at these on a bigger device than my phone.
Waterfalls don’t tend to be quite so spectacular around here!

    1. We have some very spectacular waterfalls in this area & about 90% of them are accessible to the public. We have probably visited only half of them and if you count all that are in Ontario I bet we have visited only a tiny fraction of them. (Thanks to the ice age which does seem like it is returning this winter!)

    1. Hello Jane, I was hopeful for this weekend, but we have been having another raging winter storm, so I think it's just looking at the album for the weekend (col)

  6. I can't tell you how excited I am that you visited Kakabeka Falls!!!
    This is my home!!
When I was a little girl, can you believe my brothers and I climbed down those....the water wasn't rushing at that time...but still!!!!
What were we thinking....I have to say, I got a spanking when my stepmom told my dad what we did!

    1. Tracy you do live in one of Ontario's most beautiful spots. Mr Man travels often in that region for business. I really like the Terry Fox statue & park.

  7. Great waterfalls! We need to get out & about more, too, and have been talking about that a lot lately. Our weather is much better than yours, but it's still been off and on cold again with way too much rain for getting out often.

    1. We are fortunate to live in a richly diverse area, lots of river, creeks, ponds & lakes - since I cannot fly, we take our vacation time locally to explore & be tourist in our own province. Spring weather is horrible this year - we are in the midst of an ice storm - I am sure the power will go out at some point :(
