Short holiday message; Drink? Don't drive.
SOAP BOX MOMENT: This week the police's holiday R.I.D.E. campaign kicked off & in a 24 hour time frame, over 150 impaired drive charges were laid - what don't people get about no driving when you have been drinking (or taking drugs). R.I.D.E. = reduce impaired driving everywhere.
It's the same here. We have campaigns and the numbers being caught seem to be going up instead of down. It's hard to understand.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more but I would also urge particularly youngsters to drink in moderation. The number harmed by not being in control of themselves. Another Bath student drowned in the river last week on his way home from a night club. Very sad.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to understand how anyone could think that they could drive safely under the influence.
ReplyDeleteVery timely. Powerful six words. Let's hope those who need to take notice are sober enough to remember.
ReplyDeleteCan never understand those that do
ReplyDeleteI'm at a loss about this drink/drugs/drive thing too. Thank you for joining in again Mary-Lou.
ReplyDeleteI do not understand why some still drink and drive!!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many ways to get home without driving yourself.
I have always told my kids and their friends that no matter what time it is, if they were with my child or not, I will pick any of them up at what ever time if they or their driver was drinking.
My girls were never the type to go out and party and still don't drink (they are homebodies like me)...but the offer still stands with them and their friends even though they are all adults now.
Nice pairing of words & photo!
