Memorandum Monday - Jan 2, 2017

Good Morning, Happy 2017 & a quick wave to all through our lovely hostess, Sian at : From High In The Sky

What is new from the patio?  Lots of newly fallen snow.
All The Solar Lights Wear Snow Hats

As we burnt the good bye candles of 2016, we said our thanks for all the blessings of the year & hello to a new year.

Ice cream Cake - Afters Of A Special New Year's Eve Dinner

A new year to begin us all on journeys & promises of a better day.

The Changing Morning Light
The most discouraging new has been reading that so many blogging ladies have decided it is time to call an end to their blog.  I am sad about it.

I have made no new year resolutions - I am not even sure where or how I want to improve; not saying that I don't have areas that  needing revamping, it's just I have no energy for it just yet.

A short start to the new year ...  you cannot stop the future, you cannot rewind the past, the only way forward is to press play & begin.

  1. That's a nice symbolic way of marking the end of 2016 - burning the candles. I hope they didn't melt the ice cream!
I've said it before, but I love your snow. Is it powdery or wet where you are?
I know what you mean about the resolutions. I wanted to try One Little Word but I just can't think of one that doesn't either stress me out or have the potential to keep me in my rut... Never mind, I've pressed play and begun in my own way - whatever that is!

    1. I did O.L.W. online course once, it did not speak to me the way I had hoped. My greatest success has always been with something I have done for years & years; I ask myself a question on my birthday (which is my true new year) to ponder on throughout the year, when making decisions & reactions to situations.

    2. Snow is been both - some really fluffy stuff, some very heavy wet (perfect for snowman building).

  2. I like the idea of burning the candles. That's too bad that some bloggers are done blogging, but I guess if it isn't something they enjoy, it becomes a task. I hope you have a good start to your New Year! -Jenn

  3. I love that cartoon! That is me right at this very moment. Healthy soup for lunch, followed by two chocolates, just because they were there! Your snow looks so pretty. I wonder if we will get any this year?

    1. Temptation is so hard to resist. I was given several boxes of chocolates by patients from the clinic, I very quickly re-gifted as I know I could not say no. Our snow can look pretty. We have had a blend of fluffy snow & then wet snow. Neither are fun to drive in.

  4. A Very Happy New Year to both of you!

I'll admit that I did wonder if I honestly wanted to embark on a new year of blogging. The end of the year seemed like a good place to stop. But I do so much enjoy the company of you and the others who contributed so much to our memos last year. Let's see how it goes!

    Stay warm!

  5. Happy New Year to you and your husband. I like the idea of burning candles at the end of the year. I agree it is a shame when people stop blogging.

    1. Thank you Barbara. The candle burning was a new one I had come up with - in previous years I have written down my sorrows from the year & then tossed into the fireplace but we switched over to a gas fed fireplace & I thought the candles a nice modification. Happy New Year to you.

  6. I like your final few lines :). And understand the bit about energy or lack thereof too. Three people whose blogs I followed shut up shop all in the same week last autumn, and I felt it acutely. Here's to forging new community :).

    1. I read on Ruth's blog you have picked a word for 2017 - it is a good strong word & I do hope it leads you to some wonderful thoughts. I like that blogging has helped me be part of a community.

  7. Happy New Year!! I'm saddened that more bloggers are signing off, too. Personally, I'm looking forward to 2017, lots of blogging, and an ACTIVE year all around. :)

  8. So glad you"re sticking with the blogging. I would miss this community. Several of my blogging friends do all their posting on Instagram and Face Book now, but it's just not the same.
