Memo, Mail & Me: It's Monday September 18th

 Good morning beautiful people.

A very light check in this morning. Nothing to report on the memo or mail side of my life.

As for me, I am hoping that our new hire is able to work on her own, without me as her hovering help. Her first shift is Tuesday. I will be at the dentist at lunch time on Tuesday, so of no practical use to anyone then! My fingers are crossed.

I had two very enthusiastic helpers with Autumn/Thanksgiving decorating.

I am preparing for Autumn's official arrival this Friday; in our part of the world, she arrives at 4:02pm, so I can be in the garden with tea in hand to greet her.  It is also Bilbo & Frodo's birthday on Friday.  There will be cake & of course we'll be watching The Fellowship of The Ring.

I am reading Grief Cottage; there are a couple of characters that I like, not overall loving ... but nothing is going to come close to my best read ... The Thirteenth Tale.  I'll say no more.

Monday is the perfect day to correct last week's mistakes & it seems like a fresh start to dig in & begin a new journey of success.

  1. I know you're a Potterhead so do you have cake to celebrate any of those character's birthdays?

Fingers crossed that your new hire works out, and that the dentist visit isn't too horrible!

    1. I usually just celebrate Harry's birthday, although I do note each of the main characters birthday - this year it was cupcakes with wizard hats. For my beloved Hobbits I usually make a carrot or apple cake, it just seems more Hobbit like :)

  2. Autumn arrives at 4.02 pm ... that's very precise!
    Have a great week!

    1. I laugh when the news announces the arrival of the seasons & yes it's always with the minutes indicated - if I get out there to welcome her around 4ish, I'll consider it a good welcome :)

  4. It's official - summer's almost over!
Hope the 'new girl' manages to cope while you're away at the dentist!

    1. Weather wise we are having a heat wave, something more typical of August not mid September. Today is very humid! Poor Mother Nature she is confused.

  5. Well I never knew the seasons arrived at a particular time of day! Not that it matters, seeing it's been as good as autumn here for some weeks now. I have had the heating on a couple of evenings and yesterday I put the flannel duvet cover on. (However it is still the summer duvet - albeit with an extra blanket - somehow that doesn't seem so bad!)

    1. All seasonal arrives are based from Greenwich mean time ... but I think it all has to do with the sun, the earth's axis & rotation, too much science for me (col). I've had the flannel sheet/blanket on for weeks! Mind you today we had the air conditioning on it was so hot & humid. Crazy weather.

  6. Autumn may be coming, but it's hot and humid here. Nonetheless, I packed away the summer decorations, and brought out those for fall. We're entertaining two groups of people this week and I didn't want to be in sea shell mode for either party!

    1. I couldn't believe how humid it was this weekend & today - summer finally arrived just before she is being shown the door! I'm definitely thinking Autumn in decorating & cooking/baking.

  7. I am a little late to wish you a good start to the week, but I hope it's going well, autumnal flavour and all. Your moggies are very sweet!
