Memo, Mail & Me: It's Monday September 4th

Gracious me, it's the first Monday of a new month & it feels by the weather change, like the first of a new season.  Night time temperatures are hovering at about 6 (C) 42 (F).  It's too soon!

In Canada we are celebrating today as a paid day off work - Labour Day & then tomorrow, Tuesday, the little darlings return for a new school year.  It is the second most wonderful time of the year!

Which reminds me to put in a note about the final link for the seasonal photo scavenger hunt (SPSH) - it's Sunday September 30th.  I do hope everyone has had fun with the list.  Please let us all have a peek at what you found, whether it was 1 or 10 or 25 of the items, it was/is all about getting out & having fun.

On the memo front I received this memo earlier in the weekend from the Universe;   Can you imagine a life with no fear?  What if faith, not fear, was your default reaction to threats? - Max Lucado

I have been giving this a lot of thought in regards to the direct "fearful" things in my own life & as things in the world are reaching very tense moments.

Even though things in the garden are winding down, there is still a certain lushness about it.  I am so relieved & pleased that the garden where the new fence was installed early in the season, grew & flourished in spite of those big work boots trampling about.

On the mail front, I received the course catalogue for several schools' night classes on offer;  funny not one of them offers Transfiguration ...

Reading;  while I still had the chance I re-read, The Thirteenth Tale & again I cannot say enough about this book.  When I returned this one to the library (reluctantly) I picked up my latest request, The Blinds.

I hope everyone has a marvelous week ahead.  May I suggest that we all do one brave & fearless thing this week.

  1. I am happy to say I've finished my photo hunt - mainly because I thought it finished on September 1 so had a panic photo session last week trying to find the last ones. Turns out I still have a month to go - doh!
Yes, there are some scary things going on in the world right now and I can't imagine how all that will end - one can only hope that sense will prevail in the end and that innocent people are not caught up in it.

    1. I have a completed list for the SPSH but there are 1 or 2 I want to improve upon. I think North Korea is on a death wish campaign ... there are 3 mighty tigers, who's tail they are pulling ... I'll say no more for now.

    1. I do hope you enjoy the hunt. Since it's seasonal & not summer I thought we'd run the hunt until the end of September, even though I know summer ends September 22nd (Bilbo & Frodo's B-day).

  3. I guess I didn't realize that Canada also celebrated Labor Day. It always meant back to school for me until I retired, and brought mixed feelings because I did love teaching, and I loved the start of the school year. My grandson started school two weeks ago in Illinois, but here everyone seems to begin this coming week. You have a beautiful photograph of the monarch butterfly. I've finished my scavenger hunt and hoped I'd find some better examples of some, but nothing has shown up yet. I have to admit, I've not searched in the same way either. Have a great week!

    1. In September I still want to buy new pencils & notebooks. I think there a lots of holidays we share. We have been trying to instill at least one long weekend a month, we haven't got anything for November as yet & depending when Easter falls, either March or April miss out & nothing for June, although in Quebec they celebrate St John the Baptiste day. I can't wait to see more of your hunt finds - I still can't get over the brilliance of the egg for inside of something!

  4. Nice garden - and yes, it is too early to give up summer - but then it is always too early to give up summer - but I try to enjoy each season as it comes and not rush life along. I like the saying about fear - I could do with a lot less of it. Happy holiday and week ahead.

    1. Thanks JoAnn. Yes no rushing of any season, life moves pretty fast without us trying to push forward.

  5. Yes, the weather is starting to feel a bit autumnal here too - freezing yesterday and I fear I am starting a cold! - but I am hopeful for more sun this month. Sept and even part of October is often sunny and really pleasant in these parts. Enjoy your week, and I look forward to hearing what courageous feats you have achieved! Good for you.

    1. September in some of the old world faiths, have September as the start to the "new year" & I kind of like that. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a slow move to Autumn's chill. We often have some wonderful weather days in October, still barbequing for Thanksgiving!

  6. I'm hoping for some sunshine here now the kids are back to school however rain here at the moment. I'm also wondering if Autumn will see Sian and Helena rolling back or whether they have defected totally to Instagram. Fingers crossed that they really miss blogging!

    1. We had a storm blow through last night, high winds, hail & lots of rain & not even part of Harvey the Hurricane. I hope to see some lovely weather this week. I too am hopeful but not surprised if no return to blogging.

  8. Despite the low temperatures, your garden is looking very full and lush ... Glad you found something to support and cheer you in these difficult times. I often think about what we would do differently if we could go out and about freely and know that we would be absolutely safe, and that all human beings we met would be kind and helpful...

    1. I am not by nature a brave or fearless person & often I wonder what I would do more of if I knew it would be safe. I am sure travel would be at the top of most peoples list.
