Take Three Thursday - Single & So Pretty

This week my threesome are the last of my Morning Glories.  I have not had much luck with Morning Glories in the past, so this year I grew in pots & placed in the garden & could regulate the water. What surprised me is the variation of colour on the same vine, in spite of the package declaring "Blue China".   I am going to save the seeds from all of these vines to plant again in the spring & be amazed I hope, by the colours again.

Me On A Monday - September 24th

                                                            CURRENTLY

Liking: cooler nights, excellent sleeping weather.  On Friday by 2pm we had with humidity 36+ (c) temperatures & then on Saturday morning it was 9(c) - such extremes. It was a nasty storm that blew through on Friday afternoon - mild damage compared to the area near Ottawa which had a tornado touch down!

Doing: slowly putting the patio away for the season, it makes me so sad especially the part of binning the annual flower pots!  We moved the patio carpet into the garage to steam clean & then roll up for the winter.

Watching: tried one new TV show, Hang Ups; I'll give it one more try, was not amused.  Another series (old, so very old) from the library on DVD; HettyWainthropp - our librarian recommended. It's OK, nothing too much but most interesting to see so many stars of current fame.

Reading: two books by the same author; John Boyne & both take place in Ireland.  (1) A History of Lonliness - it did make me think about how much the Catholic priests all knew about each's other's bad behaviour.  (2) The Heart's Invisible Furies - well you certainly can tell the author is not a fan of the Catholic church, such brutal shaming done by the village priest!  Did not enjoy either, nor would I recommend either book.  I realize both are novels but I am certain that is some truth written in ... I'll say no more.

Planning; it will soon be Thanksgiving in Canada one of my favourite holidays; Monday October 8th.  I think I like it for the foods but mostly because there's no gift giving pressure & moderate decorating.  

Making: I am thinking of making a mini album (6X8") for Cathy Z's 31 Days of Thankful (31 for Canadians, in October & 30 days for Americans in November).  A good way to clear through some scrapping stash.

Eating:  I've been having another bout of digestive woes in spite of getting good marks from Naturopathic Doctor.  It's a mystery to all but especially to me.  My ribs are aching from all the throwing up.

Wondering:  was offered a job at another clinic but it requires a drive of about 20-30 minutes each direction & its fewer hours than I work now.  And now that we are a one car family, I have to really give this some thought.  I also wonder how the clinic I'm currently at is going to continue on since our one & only physio therapist quit last Tuesday.  His patients are devastated.   He is an amazing therapist & I really enjoy working with him.

In The Shopping Cart: two new skirts on summer clearance for $4.97 each! Score! One I can wear with jacket into the early parts of Autumn as it is a dark back ground.

Enjoying: dinner with friends who took us out for meal at a favourite Greek restaurant.  The catch up conversation was lively, fun, enjoyable & makes it all the more sad that they are moving west to BC in November.  Makes me sad.

This week my three are by theme - plants, or as some call them, weeds, growing where they want & doing a very good job of it.
Give them a little dirt, sunshine & rain & watch out.   Thankfully at this moment, I can say none of these photos are from my garden, but I'm not saying that with any boasting as my garden has a different story this year, I have an abundance of some type of wild clover, it gets very tall & is very green inspite of the dry conditions.  It's not the same type of clover (white & sterile) that we have as lawn in the back garden, this plant even climbs up other plants.

Me On A Monday - September 17th

Currently:

Watching: The last few F1 races & waiting for a few favourite TV shows to return with a new season or a couple to start a new.  Also watching an older serious that we borrowed the DVD set "Garrow's Law" based on true stories of the British legal system in the early 1800's.  Fascinating

Reading: The Ripple Effect;   Read nothing new or with a WOW did not know factor.

Planning: For seasonal changes which includes putting out my Autumn dishes & tablecloth & changing the door wreath.

Favourite New Word:  Resplendent; shining brilliantly : characterized by a glowing splendor
 
Creating: An update to my CV/Resume - I have got to get another job.  The current pay cycle I had to twice remind the boss of & he totally missed the pay cycle before, so he now owes me 4 weeks of pay - he's just tacking on to this pay cycle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Listening: To the many flocks of Canadian Geese in the farmer's field, especially at dusk as they hunker down for the night

Celebrating: Mr Man's job change - yeah no more weeks of away business travel!  It also means no more company vehicle so we are now a one vehicle family!!!  Some adjustments needed.

Making: More cards that are stamped trying new techniques for making interesting folds & openings of the cards.

Feeling: Annoyed at neighbours who continually have an open flame fire on their wood deck, under a canvas sun umbrella next to our wood fence!

New In the Shopping Cart:  I have been scouring 2nd hand shops for a 3 tier serving plate for my at home tea parties but have found nothing until a recent trip to Ikea (it's a journey to get there), this is plain glass, so not tied to any season & it was well within my budget.  Next tea party is planned to welcome Autumn but also celebrate Bilbo & Frodo's birthdays.

Improving:   My dietary choices, lots of work done with a Naturopathic Doctor; got some answers to my digestive woes.  Not totally "cured" but making headway.

This week what I've noticed on my walks, but especially in my garden, the rich pinks that this late summer is showing off with. Anyone who has read my blog before, knows I like pink, a lot.

I am wanting to hang on to summer for as long as possible, I feel that I haven't done everything I had planned to.  I want to turn back the clock but alas, thanks to Hermione of Harry Potter fame, all the time turners were destroyed!  I would like to linger just a little longer on the patio in the morning & then again in the evening. The light, sounds & smells still in choir unison sing,  summer.

So this Thursday I give you my three by a colour link;  a few of my late summer garden pinks.

Me On Monday - September 10th

To quote Charles Dickens from A Christmas Carol:

We celebrated a milestone birthday for Mr Man over the weekend with friends & certainly we made merry memories, but with celebrating, tidying up & all,  I haven't done or thought about much else.  I shall be back later with some news.

The bees in my yard are very busy, especially around the Anemone flowers. I'm not really too keen on this particular plant because it is proving to be very invasive & unruly BUT the bees love it so it gets to stay (for now).  We had put up a Mason Bee house earlier in the year but we have yet to see any residences.  In my three today, it makes me very happy to see so many bees about, I've noticed three kinds which means the plants we have chosen are encouraging to them.  We are trying to do our bit for nature & her dwindling bees.

Me On A Monday - September 3rd

It's Labour Day which means a holiday Monday for those of us in  Canada.    

The origins of Labour Day can be traced back to April 15, 1872, and it was originally celebrated in the spring but it was moved to the fall after 1894.  Even though our first Prime Minister, Sir John A. MacDonald is currently under scrutiny, we have him to thank for allowing trade unions to exist & for aiding the change from a 58 hour work week to a 54 hour work week.  Thanks JA, you moved that work week into the  right direction -  now a 40 hour work week for most!

For many it is the last long weekend of the summer & the signal that on the Tuesday after Labour Day, school begins for many students & teachers, which can seem like a 58 hour week!
