This week my threesome are from my garden.  My tree peony, which was late blooming this year but I was most thankful for the bloom as I was a little concerned for its survival over the winter.  She, surely is one of the queens of the garden, majestic with blooms that command attention.  I did have one year where she bloomed with 7 magnificent flowers but I'm really not comparing ... just thankful she has survived & gifted me with 4 this year.

Me On A Monday - June 24th

Good morning all.  Hope that everyone had a good weekend.  Reminds me of the Dowager Grantham's question ..."what's a weekend?"

Currently Reading: "A Test of Wills - Inspector Rutledge" by Charles Todd.

Currently In The Garden:  it's all growing quickly & some parts are over growing too quickly.  I have given myself a summer project of re-claiming, taming, bringing to order, one piece of the garden we refer to as the circle garden.  It's become a wild spot with lots of pretty but evasive plants.  One is called Lady's Bells, it's SO pretty when in flower & makes for great cut flowers but it's just too bossy & takes over. So I'm ripping it out of the circle garden.  I did transplant some to a corner of the east side of the garden, where it can fill it there & maybe grow out into the field.  The other is violets, they are just getting ripped/dug out.  No transplant for them.  I did have a number of roses in this area but two did not make it through the winter.  I'm not replacing.  There's still two David Austin roses doing well & there's one that is a rather wild looking rose.  I think it's the grafted root that survived not the intended rose.  I'll see what it does this summer before I decide.  A large deep rose coloured herbaceous peony is doing well.  The delphinium is coming on & the daylilies, which I really like,  are doing well - they'll all stay.

 Excitement:  We rescued a large, moss covered snapping turtle off the road on Sunday.  He was not very thankful at our intervention.  The towel is to put over him, to allow us to protect ourselves when picking him up to move him. 

I've decided for the month of July I'm taking a summer vacation from traditional Me On Monday posts.  I'll be back with regular M.O.M. posts August 12th as the first Monday in August is for us a long holiday weekend; Civic Day.  The Dowager would certainly not understand that concept of a long holiday weekend.    I'll be posting on Fridays in July with TGIF posts (Trusting, Grateful, Inspiring & Fun).  I'll be continuing with my Take Three Thursday, no changes there.

Take Three Thursday - A Long Run

This week my three are from our visit to Long Run Adoption Centre, which is located on a beautiful 100 acre farm.  Long Run provides Ontario Thoroughbred racehorses with a dignified retirement along with being an adoption centre for horses able to have a second career.  I have  friends that have/had horses through this adoption program. 

My heart was given to 54 beautiful horses this day, along with 10lbs of carrots taken.

Me On A Monday - June 17th

Good Morning Everyone.

Saturday saw our two Ash trees receive another treatment against that nasty horrible terrible Emerald Ash Borer beetle.  The Arborist said he thought both trees looked good & still no signs of the beetle - yeah!  Money well spent.  This very wet spring has been a bonus to all the trees.

For our anniversary celebrations we attended an open house for a Thoroughbred Ex-race horse adoption centre.  It was a wonderful 3 hours & we both enjoyed ourselves.  Needles to say I fell in love with all of them, but there were three in particular that I really liked; Tom Joy (broken withers) She Goes West (22yrs) & one that I cannot spell or pronounce her name, but let's just call her lovely, she's on total stall rest to heal a bowed tendon.  Lovely is 17.1hh at 3 years of age. Hands are how horses are measured from the ground to the top of their withers; a hand is approximately 4".  Horses stop growing about age 5 years.   No I'm not getting a horse, but I am certainly dreaming.  More to see on my Take Three Thursday.

Summer arrives in this part of the world on Friday the 21st at 11:54am.  I shall be in my garden to greet her, unless the mosquitoes carry me off - these suckers (literally) are huge this year HUGE.

This week what I've noticed,  is all the threesomes in my own garden.  It's like a buddy system of flowers.  I know that science has something to say about grouping things to please the eye & making in easier for the eye to "see", is in 3, 5 or 7 - with three being the ideal.  I guess nature proves once again, it is in charge & does know best.

Me On A Monday - June 10th In TGIF Form

Good Morning.  Yes I'm slipping in the TGIF on a Monday again.  

I'm thinking that I just might change things up for Summer with posting on a Friday rather than a Monday, giving Me On A Monday a summer vacation of sorts,  but not until after this week's Friday SPSH Link In.

The first of the 2019 SPSH link ins happens this Friday, June 14th.  I hope that everyone has being having some fun with the search.

Now back to our regularly scheduled meme ... TGIF = Trusting, Grateful, Inspired, Fun (Thank you Dr Brene Brown).

TRUSTING

Trusting that our anniversary celebrations will also be enjoyable for Mr Man.  He left the where, what, when of celebrating our anniversary together in what ever way I wanted.  I have arranged attendance at an event that speaks to my heart - with horses.

GRATEFUL

Grateful for the connections I've made in the 4 years of blogging.  I started in June 2015 without any idea of where blogging was going to take me, I had no clear plan.  I did not know if it would even last long.   It's continuing to push me in a forward motion.  Yes Grateful for the advice, the sharing, the kindness,  & encouragement.  So very Grateful for all of you.

INSPIRED

I am truly Inspired by this bird of prey, that she/he has so readily adapted to life in the city, that while her/his once,  field & forest home had been turned into a concrete wasteland (I'll say no more about that for now), that she/he is able to still find food & make the most of a situation that was thrust upon her/him.  This bird's situation really does Inspire me to look at some of my own life situations that are not of my making & how I need to adapt, to make the most of what is.

FUN

We had 6 baby black squirrels loose in the garden (again) & we watched them for about an hour, chase, wrestle & well I'm not sure what it was; washing or kissing.  I'm no longer a fan of the six plus Mom as they chase my chipmunks & the squirrels dig huge holes in my flower pots.  Fun - well for a moment or two, but I'm so over this form of entertainment.

Take Three Thursday - Mind Where You Walk

This week what I noticed was all the flocks of baby Canada Geese.  They are everywhere & some flocks are much larger than others.

Recently I heard that because parent geese do not feed their young, baby geese from other parents wander into & merge with other flocks.  A set of parents may have really only hatched 5 eggs, but their flock may include many more young that originally hatched.  Canada Geese mate for life & both parents take turns sitting on the nest to hatch the young.  Both parents guide & look out for the young. Adult geese can be quite aggressive when protecting their young. 

In this region we are not in any danger of not having enough Canada Geese, so please mind where you walk in the parks.

Me On A Monday - June 3rd - TGIF

Good morning all - bet you were wondering if I was confused (again) when I titled this post, Me on A Monday & then co-titled it with TGIF.  Most people think of TGIF as Thank Goodness It's Friday, but I have a new reference to this acronym, thanks to Dr . Brene Brown.  You can read about it here: TGIF - A Weekly Practice

TGIF = Trust, Grateful Inspired & Fun

Our church's prayer garden of which I am part of a team trying to bring some tidiness to.

Grateful: for the kindness of other bloggers.  Divers & Sundry helped me discover the name of a book I have longed search for.  I didn't know the author or the name of the book, but in a comment on her blog I mentioned the main character's name & the jest of the story.  She knew it right away.  I now have this book on order.  The book is called An Episode of Sparrows by Rumer Godden, it was my Mother's favourite book from school & she would read it to me. I hope reading it my self will re-connect me with my Mother (in spirit).

 Inspired:  Nature's resolve to just get on with the job of blooming, growing, being.  Truly bloom where you are planted.
