Take Three Thursday - Handle With Care

In an effort to notice more of the ordinary in my life, I have decided to share what I have noticed this week in Take Three Thursday.   The idea is to take 1 - 3 photos that are linked some how; by theme, by colour, by date, by moment,  by points of view. There is no formal link in but please feel free to join in.    What have you noticed this week?

We recently, on a cold Wednesday, had a walk through the warm cactus greenhouse at a local nursery.  Over the years we have watched these plants grow & take shape.  We are amazed at how huge the barrel cactus have become.  You could not, even if you wanted to, put your arms around the plant it's so large.

  1. Hard to imagine that that is just ONE plant! This post reminds me that it's been a long time since I visited the Highland Park Conservatory. They have a lovely room dedicated to cactus and desert plants. Today the sun is shining, so I'm hoping to take a walk outside!

    1. The cactus greenhouse is perfect on dull cold days, they keep it quite warm in there so it warms the body to the bone which is so nice - although I avoid in the summer for that very reason.

    1. There's is probably about 30-35 greenhouses at the business & soon they will all be open for purchase of annuals & perennials.

  3. Wow! We have a very much smaller version of one of those in our conservatory - ours is the size of an orange! What a lovely place to warm up on a chilly afternoon.

    1. I'm not sure what they feed the cactus if at all, but they apparently start off quite small.

  4. I have to confess that I am not a fan of the prickly kind of cactus at all ...

    1. Cactus are not a favourite of mine but I do marvel at the variations in shape & size. They had some that looked just like stones, that way they don't get eaten by animals of the dessert.

  6. They do look kinda cuddly - even if you'd have to don a suit of armour before approaching!

    1. Ha Ha Ha ... but having chuckled, I really wanted to wrap my arms around the barrel cactus as a symbolic measurement.
