Greetings & Good Morning All.
Currently Recovering: Mr Man & I had our Flu Shot. We have been waiting for over two months for our pharmacy (chemist) to receive a new lot of the vaccine. The need this year was greater than anticipated. I hate needles so I won't say yeah, but I hate illness & after last year's "Great Sickness" I was quick to sign up for the Flu Shot. What about you? Did you get the Flu Shot this year?

One of those books is Mr Dickens & His Carol. Which is described as "a charming comic poignant story about the creation of the most famous Christmas tale every written." It's a good read, I hope, & keeping with the situation ... a fun read.

As we just celebrated the 3rd Sunday in Advent, I'll leave you with this thought ... Advent means expectation. Let's think about the expectation of hope as the new COVID-19 vaccines rolls out across the world.
We had our flu jabs last Tuesday. The doctors surgeries locally have organised a flu clinic at our local football club. It is so well organised, we walked in, gave our names, shown to a cubicle, arm out, jab done, coat back on and back to the car park. We were there less than five minutes!
ReplyDeleteI think it will be a while before we reach the top of the list for the Covid vaccine as they are doing it in age groups as as we are 'only' in our 60s we may be seen about March time maybe?
We've been told not to expect a COVID jab until late summer of 2021 ... I just cannot think of that right now.
DeleteYes, I've been getting a flu shot for years. We were able to get ours at a pharmacy in late August--the earliest ever, but we were advised to do so. I, too, hate needles, but hate being sick much more than that! Hope, I think, is what keeps us going!
ReplyDeleteAll the pharmacies have had to re-order & re-order the Flu vaccine, such a high demand this year - which is a good thing, it gets us all in to that mind set of getting a vaccine.
DeleteI had my flu jab back in October and thankfully just experienced a swollen arm for a couple of day.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read that book but think I may have seen a TV adaptation of it. Hope you enjoy reading it.
Oh & here I thought that Mr Dickens was a brand new book. I'll keep an eye out for it as a movie, which if on TV i can tape & watch after I've read the book.
DeleteI'm having my flu jab next week - first time ever! The UK government added those in their 50s to their 'to be jabbed' list. :)
ReplyDeleteThis was our first time for Flu shots. I think the big push is so our health care systems aren't overwhelmed with Flu & COVID. Other than a really sore arm for me, no lingering affects. Mr Man not even a sore arm!
DeleteMust look for that book, my library may have it. Got my 'flu shot from my doctor about a month ago and very relieved to be protected from one virus!
ReplyDeleteMr Man says that getting the Flu shot was our dry run at getting the COVID vaccine (eventually). I opted not to get at our Doctor's office because he's in a city, in a mall & we weren't comfortable going into that environment.

ReplyDeleteOh, those nutcrackers look fierce! :D My daughter's former dance teacher used to collect nutcrackers and one year, I made a nutcracker wall hanging for her for Christmas.
I've never collected Nutcrackers, other than 1 that goes on the tree next to my Clara ornament (she's the little girl from the Nutcracker ballet). This collection isn't mine & I agree rather fierce looking; they look like they have all just had their Flu Jabs! (lol)
DeleteThe flu jab has been given free to many more categories of people this year, to try to mitigate at least one thing that we can control, so that medical services are not needlessly overstretched at this time. My sister and parents got theirs free. I used to get mine free for public health reasons, but not necessary in current circumstances!
ReplyDeleteMy sister's neighbour (80-something) got a call for the Covid jab already! Yes, maybe you will have to wait till summer but at least by then a very large "study" will have been carried out here. I kinda have mixed feelings about potentially becoming guinea pigs for the rest of the world... it could go either way.
Our Flu jabs are free, & reports are that there are a lot of first timers getting the flu shot. Reports yesterday indicate in Ontario that many of our hospitals are now at capacity with the surging COVID cases. People are idiots, still saying they will gather for Christmas celebrations regardless of the health advice & the lock down rules - IDIOTS.
DeleteI got my flu shot in October. November, maybe? I agree, it was more important this year than usual. That books interesting and perfect for the season.

I notice that all the first COVID jabs are going to women. I'm very excited that these vaccines are rolling out - could it be that glimmer of hope we need to finish out 2020.

We got the flu shots in October! Love that ornament - it definitely sums up a good bit of this year. I've enjoyed reading a few of our Christmasy books this week & we just watched A Christmas Carol a couple of days ago.
ReplyDeleteWe always save A Christmas Carol for Christmas Eve. I use to read The Christmas Cookie Club every season, but this year I just couldn't get it from the library as it seems everyone else has discovered it's charm.
DeleteWell done on the flu jabs. I got the pneumonia jab but they couldn't provide an egg-free one flu one (I had bad reactions in the past and am not willing to risk another). That's a lovely Holy Family - is it from the same set as your Three Wise Men?
