  1. Thanks for giving us the answers! I never knew who invented Elf on the Shelf. I don't remember it being a 'thing' when our kids were small, do you know when it started?

    1. my sources tell me that it was first a book with keepsake "doll" in 2005. The Mom first wrote the book in 2004 with eldest daughter to amuse the younger twin sisters.

  4. I got 13. (In the version I know of the "joke" at no. 3, the answer I know is "Deep pan, crisp and even". (Obviously I realise that's not the proper line of the carol!)
Anyway, what I actually came here to say was that, after telling you that I had never heard of "Step into Christmas" (in the last quiz), it came on the TV last night and I thought "Oh THAT'S what those words are!". I've probably heard that song dozens of times and had no idea what they were saying... So I've learned something 😮

    1. learning new tidbits is always good (lol). I've still to hear the Fairy & New York or Wine & Mistletoe songs.

    2. Really? "Mistletoe and Wine" was a big hit for Cliff Richard, probably 30 years ago now. It's quite cheesy but I think it got to no. 1 in the UK Christmas chart. What I remember most clearly is him swaying from side to side on the stage with his arms in the air. "Fairytale of New York" is around the same era, possibly a bit older. I used to hate it, but now I quite like it. It starts with an Irish guy singing out of tune but then the rest of the musicians come in and it immediately jazzes up. One of the catchiest lines is "You scumbag, you faggot, you cheap lousy maggot", which I think got changed a couple of years ago because the BBC thought the conotations of faggot had become unacceptable. Is it ringing bells now? I think the second one is definitely worth checking on YouTube, even if you only listen once!

    3. I went to UTube to listen to both these songs ... I can honestly say I've never heard either of them before. I wonder if they never made it across the pond.
