Memo, Mail & Me: It's Monday May 8th

It's Monday & we meet again. A wave to all & linking in with our hostess, Sian at:  From High In The Sky

What's new?  Saturday was National Scrapbooking Day & I made use of the day with a full on, everything out & unless there is bleeding or a fire, don't disturb me kind of scrapping fest at home.  I made breakfast but after that everyone was on their own for food & entertainment.
For one of my spring layouts, I  copied scrap lifted a layout featured in the Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine; The Magic of Christmas by Virginia Nebel. I have tried several ways to link in that page but I get error messages.   I made my page titled,  The Miracle of Spring.  In total I created 14 pages for my garden album & got caught up on my day to day album (Project Life pocket pages).

No mail this week but what I had in the shopping cart was the start of some of my purchased pots for the patio.  Still too cold to put them outside.  We had a frost warning for Sunday night, so these beautiful pink & delicate lovelies will spend their nights in the garage.

SO much rain lately, all of our rain barrels are full & overflowing.  I have often wished we could install an underground cistern system to collect all the rainwater because I just know come August, it will be hot & dry & the barrels will be empty.

On Friday when I was running some errands I noticed two Canadian geese in the grassy area between parking lots & they had a brood of yellow fluff babies.  Dad was rounding up the wandering babies so that Mom could cover them up from the pounding rain.  Dad was very aggressive so I was not able to get too close.

A thought as we start this week;  Plant your own garden instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

  1. That's an excellent thought to start the week with. You accomplished a lot on Saturday: it must have felt very satisfying.

Wishing you all the best with the week ahead. I hope you get your pots outside and it warms up a bit for you

    1. I don't mind scrapping along at home but there are times I miss a workshop with others. Frost forecasted again, in our area annuals don't get put out until after Victoria Day weekend (this year the 22nd).

  2. I like that last thought. I think you might be getting our rain as well. I am beginning to forget what it is! Love the little gaggle family.

    1. As I have said to Lady Ella, if I could share the rain I would have. Flooding has been really bad in some parts of our county although the province of Quebec has had to have the army come in to help rescue & make sand bags.

  3. Yeah, it definitely looks to be your fault that we have not had any rain for over a month. It's very greedy of you, you know!
Nice to see the Canada goose family unit. I think of your quote in terms of teaching/learning.

    1. Sorry about the rain, if I could figure out a way to share evenly or yes I would! There are so many geese babies about & all at difference stages. I agree with the reasoning of the quote, I took it to mean don't expect someone else to make you happy.

  4. Rochester is having the worst flooding in years along Lake Ontario; it often seems like we're in the same boat (so to speak) when it comes to weather. I loved your description of the Scrapbooking Day. I was busy running errands and packing so didn't even attempt to get involved. I probably get more done when I work along, but like you, I do miss getting together with friends. None of mine locally, however, scrapbook any more, and only a couple makes cards.

    1. I do think our weathers are similar, yours is just a bit warmer & sooner. I haven't had the chance to get everything out in my scrap stash for a long time, it was such a play time. I have been venturing into making a few cards - you have inspired me to give it a go.

  5. We've had a lot of rain too - rather soggy around here! I love the "don't disturb me unless there's bleeding or a fire" approach to having a day to craft. I may have to use that one the next time we don't have weekend plans!

    1. Sometimes I just have to set out a few rules so I get the time & space to just craft/play. It does my soul a heap of restoring good :)

  6. Please, please share the rain. We've had a bit but nowhere near enough and the ground is really dry.

Love your scrapbook pages. Do you find it easy to keep up with Project Life?

    1. I spotted "mare's tails" in the sky again today which usually means rain within 48 hours - I will think them east over the big pond & to your new garden. :)

    2. oh yes in answer to your question about Project Life - I would say mostly yes to quick & easy for the day to day events, although my pocket pages are pretty plain compared to others. I think it's one of those things that you can either be plain, less fussy or really get creative plus it's a nice way to save tickets or programs & trim photos into the 3X4 size. I like it but not for all my scrapping needs.

  7. That's a great design idea to scraplift; I've used it myself on a few Chrustmas and travel themed pages.
Not much rain here and already talk of a hose pipe ban over the summer ...

    1. Yes Ruth I saw your version & really liked those pages you did. I have scraplifted many pages you created, I like your clean lines. I would like to believe that our summer won't be dry & bare but history I think is repeating itself, wet spring, drybones summer ...

  8. What a great double page and images of Spring!
A citerne would be a very smart investment indeed!
We have quite a few geese in Chicago as well but I've never had the chance to spot their goslings.

    1. Thanks Alexandra. The goslings grow & change so quickly, blink & you miss the cute yellow fuzzy time.

    1. I think because I am alone while scrapping, I am not breaking to have fun chats with anyone. Good things about scrapping alone, but also some not fun things about it. I really like that layout - sometimes a layout comes together as you see it in your head ...
