Memo, Mail & Me: It's Monday Oct 16th

Good Monday morning to all.

In the mail this week a rather unusual postcard, it was two sided with a joke on the front & address details about the church & on the backside details of all their upcoming events.  It's a strange way for a church to promote itself ... not even a local church.
On the memo front  Mr Man received notification that he can have the eye injections done locally, which means we do not have to do that 2 hour drive in & out of Toronto!  Gratitude!

In the shopping cart this week was my most recent self indulgence purchase, a thank you to myself for all the extra work I've done at the clinic, because you know the boss will never say that!  I bought myself (with a 55% off coupon) a magnetic platform for holding the die cuts on my Big Kick machine - it's a scrapping/card making thing.

Currently I am:

Thinking: in spite of saying no, not again, about a Summer Photo Scavenger Hunt list, I have started to jot down a few ideas!

ReadingLittle Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng.  Liked & thought it very interesting how meddling & revenge are often entwined together.  It has me thinking about is it ever right to meddle & can revenge actually be a door opening of opportunity for some?

I just started the author's first book; Everything I Didn't Tell You.  I am liking this one.  You can read out of order, one is not connected to the other.

Watching: lots of the short series, which I rather enjoy that style, all in & with an end in sight.  Those include; The Disappearance; Alias Grace; Poldark (oh yes, yes to Aidan Turner).
Poldark: Source, Internet
Missing: there are so many bloggers that I have read faithfully for years but they have left the blogging platform & it seems for good.   It makes me sad.

I want to say thank you to all of you that continue posting, I find the sharing of the "little & big"  life details so interesting, especially in a time when there are some world activities trying to divide us.  We are more a like than different & I am glad you share those difference/sameness.  Let's think of blogging as our way of being peace keepers.

I am missing & in no particular order; Sian; Helena; Susanne;  Miriam; Liz; Abi; Lisa; Brenda; Jen (Alberta) ... Who are you missing in the blogging world?

Planning:  I'm really on the fence about creating 31 days or even 25 days of December.   I have enough stuff in my stash of Christmas scrapping supplies to probably create 5 separate albums (this hording needs to be addressed in a completely separate post one day).  I am wondering whether I just want to create a few layouts only of the December highlights or layouts about themes of Christmas.  What are you other scrappers doing?

  1. Blogger has eaten my comment twice! 55% off, now that's a bargain! Yes to Aidan Turner and I also hope many of our missing bloggers return to our readers soon ...

    1. Ruth I hope you are right about them returning.

Sounds like Blogger is being greedy, I'll check to make sure it is not at my end that your comments are being consumed rather than shared.

  2. I agree absolutely with the missing bloggers (whilst hanging my head in shame that I haven't blogged for a couple of weeks) What can we do to give them a nudge and let them know they are missed?

    1. No shame should be felt Deb, life does get in the way of all our best plans. I guess when people feel they have run out of ideas or things to say, there is nothing to bring them back & I respect that, I really do, it's just that I miss them especially since I was so late to the party of reading & especially writing a blog.

  3. Well done you for surviving all the overtime. Enjoy your treat! Great news about the eye treatment.
I think that postcard is a great bit of PR for the church. Hope it helps someone.

    1. Some days working where I do, does feel like just surviving when I would really prefer flourishing. So many of the small community churches are closing so I think that is why the advertising. What impressed me most about this postcard - no spelling errors & correct grammar!

  4. I'm missing many of the same bloggers as you are, and finding it hard to get back into a regular cycle of posting myself. I hope you'll continue with the idea of a summer scavenger hunt---I really enjoyed this year's. Glad to hear Mr. Man's injections can happen locally. That takes a little stress out of the procedure. I finally gave up on my Christmas journal from 2016, and just did pages in my Project Life album. I'm planning to do the same this year. I think I completed 12 albums, and I love them all, but it's gotten to be a bigger project than I'm willing to tackle. Everything I Never Told You was one of my favorite books from last year. I'm waiting for my turn with the new one at the library. Last I looked I was #35 in the queue.

    1. Karen you & I seem to like the same books :)
I have about 10 items on the 2018 SPSH list so far, again trying to make it a combination of easy readily available items, some open to interpretation & a couple of challenges. I think I've decided to do a few special layouts for my Christmas album but not everyday.

  5. I miss many of those bloggers, too!! I so enjoy the sharing of our lives. This summer was terribly busy & I didn't participate in the Photo Scavenger Hunt, but I hope you'll do it again. I've joined in hunts before & always enjoy it!

So FUN to see the reward you gave yourself - enjoy!!!!

    1. Thanks Melissa, the magnetic board really does hold those little die cuts firmly in place. That's the good thing about the PSH, participate when you can, as many as you can ... all are welcome to participate as much as they want :)

  6. Great news on the injections. Yes I too miss those bloggers. I particularly miss Sian, Helena and Miriam. I miss their posts and their comments. They were so much part of my early blogging. I do keep up with them a bit on Instagram but it's just not the same to me.
When I was at secondary school I was an avid pen friend writer. I loved the sharing of information and ideas. You gradually created a picture of people. I find blogging to be similar. When people stop its the same as losing touch with a pen friend. That little portal on life is gone.
Waiting avidly for next summer's hunt? Will their be a winter one?

    1. Maggie I am making no plans for a winter photo hunt, I know that for me the next 6 months will be very business with a project so I wouldn't have time to create a list or participate. I have fingers crossed for a return to blogging from of our mutually missed ladies.

    2. Oh goodness Mary Lou I wasn’t suggesting you did a winter one. You have done your bit already!

    3. Maggie no worries - wish I could figure out how to insert a big smiling happy face!

  7. I am a 'lapsed' blogger! I really want to post regularly, but just haven't had the time or energy lately. Sorry that I haven't commented lately either! Hoping to get back into it. These blog 'memes' are a great way of blogging regularly. Are you on Instagram? On another note, I loved Poldark! I haven't heard of the other series you talk about. The books sound good, I will look out for them. XX

    1. Linda so nice to hear from you. I'm not on Instagram, I just couldn't face another piece of technology to manage & keep current. Alias Grace is a Canadian production & based on Margret Attwood's novel, which is based on a real life Canadian murder story. I believe The Disappearance is also Canadian based.
