Currently reading, Atomic Habits. I saw the author, James Clear, interviewed & I found him very well spoken & his ideas about developing/enhancing habits mind blowing. I'll finish the book & let you know if my better, the person I want to be, habits have been developed.
Currently received a new crocheted tree ornament by my gifted crocheting friend; it's a pink sweater with my initial sewn on. We have a mutual enjoyment of the ugly Christmas sweaters. We both have the same ugly Christmas sweater socks, cookie cutters & tree ornaments.
Currently I went too far in my shopping at the Bulk Barn* to purchase supplies for Christmas baking. Now I'm committed to baking more than I need, more than I should. * Bulk Barn is a chain of stores that sell everything in bulk; candies, baking supplies; cake decorating, teas, coffee, hot chocolates, animal feed products (birds & dogs). It is far too much fun to wander the aisles. It encourages me to bake & then I get carried away with great plans of baking. Note to self, stay out of Bulk Barn if the habit of eating healthy is a goal.
I needed more decorations for my horse theme tree, so I made them myself. I have plans to make 3 more.
Currently battling on with a cold - I hope I caught in time. I just wish cookies were a cure.
"We are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmastime.”
Even if cookies aren't a cure, they certainly won't make you worse so I think you should tuck in and enjoy them! Hope you feel better soon x
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb, I'm already on the upside to well being. Colds affect all of our parts, so lots of tea, so how can a cookie or two be but a good thing!
DeleteThat's a vert cute festive post box ... and I'm pretty certain cookies are a well known cure for a cold!
ReplyDelete... well the cookies do get a dunking in tea, which my Gran claimed tea cured ALL that ails us.
DeleteThe habit book sounds very interesting and I'll be interested to see what you think if it. I'm currently reading about habit stacking which I think will be workable for me for some things.
ReplyDeleteSo far I'm enjoying although with this head cold, my levels of concentration are brief. His four principles to creating a positive habit are: Make it obvious; Make it attractive; Make it easy; Make it satisfying. I like that he also includes some science behind his theories. So far I'd recommend (but only on a borrow from the library).
DeleteI'm a big Bulk Barn user, especially when there are 20% off coupons. I like the idea of only buying as much as you need. I get all my bread machine supplies there, and natural peanut butter.
ReplyDeleteOh yes like those 20% off coupons.
DeleteThose cookies look delicious! They look like they have some cherries or dried fruit in them? I'm sorry you have a cold - I am just recovering from a cold and cough that wiped me out for almost a whole week! The worst cold and cough I've had in years! Hope you feel better, soon.
ReplyDeleteIt's the Christmas fruit deluxe mix along with citrus. The recipe calls for golden raisins but neither of us are that keen, so I add extra fruit deluxe mix. I often soak the fruit overnight in some orange liqueur. This cold is lingering & oh that cough is getting painful.
DeleteThose decorations are absolutely beautiful ... Our library system for the entire county doesn't have a copy of Atomic Habits, so I will wait for another review from you when you've finished before committing myself to a purchase. Those cookies are very tempting ...
ReplyDeleteAtomic Habits is still fairly hot of the press. I'm liking, but I wouldn't buy. Good points but rather repeated over & over. He does have a web site, you may want to check it out.
DeleteThe Cookie Cure! I think we should make that a thing :)
ReplyDeleteYes - I think woman would donate in droves for this research. (col).
DeleteAh, if only cookies were a cure! Or calorie free! We spent the weekend baking cookies, and today our new neighbor brought us a huge plate of cookies to thank Tracy for snow plowing their driveway during one of the last big snows.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying my best to restrain myself by forcing myself to weigh myself every morning.
I'd take calorie free over cure! I put the scale away in the basement for holidays (col). Squares & cookies I would take over cake any day.
DeleteI haven't read blogs since September, so just had a good catch up on yours. I didn't realize you were also in a career transition - I hope it goes well for you! I purchased Atomic Habits after hearing the author speak. It's waiting by my desk until I finish my current read Your Best Year Ever by Michael Hyatt. Actually my second read on this one, but he has some great thoughts on goal setting.
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I've learnt over the last few months is that is a big difference between a job & a career. It's time I returned to my career, taking employment in the field I went to college for. Thankfully I have the support of Mr Man has this decision. Enjoy your time away. Atomic Habits had some very good ideas.
DeleteI could have sworn I'd commented here!
ReplyDeleteHope the cold has well and truly turned a corner now, so you can enjoy the week. The horse decorations are very clever.
Thanks. As of this morning (Monday) I do feel the cold is on the run ... out of me!
DeleteIt's looking very merry where you are. I don't usually do much Christmas baking, but did this year and the one cake I tried to convert to Keto was a flop. Fortunately or maybe unfortunately, both batches of fudge turned out perfect, and I am sampling far too much of that. I will be glad to take the greatest part of it to family celebrations tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Susanne. Oh fudge, now that would be a very tasty treat to have on hand, but like you I would sample far too often.
