Wisdom Wednesday

Raise your words, not your voice.

It is the rain that grows the flower,
not the thunder.

  1. Excellent advice. My son had a brilliant teacher when he was about 5 and she never raised her voice. In fact, if she got cross she would sit closer to the child and speak quieter. It was a brilliant, effective technique.

  2. I came from a loud, even yelling, house. I don't mind the loud voices ;)

  4. Great advice. I worked with a guy in the Air Force and he never raised his voice but, my word, you knew if you were in trouble!

  6. Beautiful rose, and lovely quote! I lived by that as an elementary school teacher. I think the only time I every really raised my voice was on a fire drill outside! As my two children tell me, there was no need to raise my voice--my more stern teacher voice was all I needed. It was usually pretty quiet. They didn't like it at all.

    1. My Gran did not even have to speak, a look or a raised finger (no not that one), was all it took to strike fear & make us stop what ever we were doing!

  8. That's a lovely quote. I'm going to make a note of that. It ought to be printed on the back of cereal packets for stressed parents in the morning.

  9. Beautiful wisdom! We've had lots of rain this week, some with thunder ... so I'm glad to see the sunshine this weekend. :)
