Good Morning everyone. Happy Easter.
I haven't got it together this morning. Friday morning we spent in the emergency at the hospital Mr Man had his surgery at. Then because it was a specialized related problem to the surgery he had two weeks ago, off we went to the specialist. Not good news. Two big tears (as in rip) in the retina that just had the surgery.
Because it was a holiday in Ontario - limited available staff at both the hospital & at the specialist clinic. So laser surgery was done without a sedative. The really bad news about that was that one of the tears was on a nerve at the back of the eye. VERY PAINFUL procedure. So weekend was spent recovering from a long & painful Friday.
Good news is that between 8:00am & 6:00pm I got in over 27,000 steps pacing in the ER & the waiting room of the specialist.
He is feeling just a tad better this holiday Monday.
And just a thought; no one really explains when you take the marriage vow of in sickness & health, what that really will mean in the future.
I can't even begin to think how painful that must have been for Mr Man, and very worrying for both of you. I hope the repairs have been successful and it doesn't set his treatment back at all. Sending ((hugs)) to both of you xx
ReplyDeleteOh my... I cannot even imagine what that must have been like. That sounds barbaric, making him have the surgery without a sedative. You don't have to convince me that our health care system is abysmal. I do hope he recovers well, and I know that the caregivers have their own suffering they do along with the patient. -Jenn

ReplyDeleteWhat a horrible experience! I'm sorry it turned out that way and hope his recovery has an uncomplicated track. It's true we don't really understand what those vows are going to mean in the distant future {hug}
ReplyDeleteOh no. Your poor husband. What a shame for that to happen, I do hope that the laser surgery he had to have done is successful and there will be no further problems.
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness! What a stressful weekend that must have been! And to have eye surgery without any sedation! That must have been so painful! I'm so sorry you both had to go through such trauma over the weekend. I hope the surgery to repair the tears was successful. I imagine there will be more follow-up visits in the upcoming days. (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteI am SO sorry to read this post! I can't even begin to imagine what it was like for Mr. Man nor for you--helplessly waiting in the hospital. Any kind of surgery without anesthesia seems barbaric at best. I hope the surgery was able to repair the tears, and that recovery will not be too long or painful.

ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I am so sorry to read this ... The distress of knowing about the tears compounded by the pain of treatment must have left you both feeling drained (or even traumatised). Hoping that the memory of that fades, and his recovery (and yours) is going well. Sending warmest good wishes to you both.
