Memorandum Monday - July 25th

Five months today is Christmas - there I have said it.

Linking in with our hostess, Sian & sending a big wave to all the Monday Memo writers connecting at From High In The Sky

New from the patio?  Well it really has been too hot to move away from the  cool of inside of the house to even the patio. (gratitude for air conditioning).  Further water restrictions, fire bans, drought conditions, all official notifications we have received this week.

As of Sunday evening, I am half way through book 5, The Order of The Phoenix of the Harry Potter re-read.  On Saturday, while finishing book 4, The Goblet of Fire, I had quite a laugh out loud moment;  "An excellent point, said Professor Dumbledore.  My own brother, Aberforth was prosecuted for practising inappropriate charms on a goat. It was all over the papers, but did Aberforth hide?  No, he did not! He held his head high & went about his business as usual.  Of course, I'm not entirely sure he can read, so that may not have been bravery."

We did buy a new paper shredder, one that cross cuts. Both Mr Man & I do a lot of work from home & it is imperative that some documents are destroyed correctly.   This new shredder is so quiet, which makes a change from the old one.

I have a new rant.  It seems the latest catch phrase is when you tell someone you love them, the reply is now,  love you moreReally love is now a competition.

Wishing everyone a very lovely week ahead & hoping that everyone gets the weather conditions that they regionally require & need; for us it is rain & several hours of it.

My thought for today:  Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

    1. LOL - I am the first to admit that putting fruit into a salad can liven up some old flavours, but I must admit tomatoes are tricky one for me.

  2. I'm part way through a re-read of Harry Potter as well. I've also ordered the book of the new Cursed Child plays which will be released at the end of the week. And I'm re-watching each film after I finish the book, although the films are nowhere near as good as the books (in my opinion).

    1. Oh I am with you about books better than movies. I do like the first few movies the last two, no no no no - I cannot wait to get The Cursed Child book this weekend.

    1. LOL - I have started my shopping. When I see something I know that person would like, I grab it while I can. I keep a box of potential gift items which has saved me a few times for gift gifting outside of Christmas.

    1. I like how the goat comes into play in the later books. I will hold off for now dreaming of a white Christmas, I still have summer vacation dreams to go through :)

  6. Your first sentence made me wince and your last thought for the day made me smile :). Not come across l-y-m (can't even bear to type it) but it makes me want to punch something very hard. Hoping you get the rain you need and that you have a good week ...

  7. My kids always respond, "love you too." Perfect response, although I've heard the "more" on occasion somewhere. Five months? Didn't need to know that! :-)

    1. There are so many Christmas in July craft sales, especially in our local church communities right now & I see so many of the big names in scrapping sending out Christmas in July shopping discounts.

  9. :o) You are so cute, Mary-Lou. Love your words of wisdom on the tomato. And oh, don't even get me started on the "love you more." My daughter said that to me when she was younger and I nipped it in the bud right there. It might be kind of a cute thing to say, but NO WAY can she love me more than I love her, and like you said, competition? No thanks! And thanks a whole LOT for the Christmas reminder. ;o) It's crazy how fast this year is going!

    1. Thanks Deb. Glad you have nipped the l.y.m. early on - I stopped my sister in her tracks last week when she pulled that on me. While I am not pulling out the decorations yet, I am surprised by the number of scrapping names putting out shopping for Christmas now. Savour the moment, savour the season, be present now, do not rush the time, it marches quickly on its own.

  10. Noooo, I don't want to hear anything about Christmas or winter.
I love my summer days they are so short here.

    1. Oh I am certainly one for enjoying every moment possible on the patio ... not to worry I do not believe my mere mention of "CH" will chase away the sunshine (lol).

    1. I mentioned the "C" word tongue in check, because there are already ads for this type of shopping.
