Memorandum Monday - July 4th

Good Monday morning to you all.  To have a visit with the other Monday Memo writers & Sian, our hostess, you can link in here: From High In The Sky.

Happy Independence Day to my USofA Friends.  Canada Day on Friday was a mixed bag of weather, nothing horrible, but nothing fantastic.  Too windy for fireworks.

What is new from the patio.  Another fairly quiet front on learning or doing anything new.

A beautiful afternoon on the patio

On Saturday Mr Man & I attended a family gathering of my foster Mom; her eldest daughter was home, (she currently lives just outside of Atlanta, Georgia).   No photos to share but fun was had by all.  I had a 4 year old madam instruct me on how to properly wash my hands after using the bathroom (an inspection followed) & I spent time with a 7 year old discussing dragons & what is good about them.  I can honestly say I learnt many new things from both these little ladies.  Oh by the way, blue dragons are the best.

With corn being grown as the crop in the field behind us,  this weekend saw the new season  start checks by police airplane & helicopter.  They fly fairly low over corn fields looking for anyone growing marijuana amongst the corn plants.  On a Sunday afternoon it is quite annoying however necessary.

One of our residence chipmunks, Vincent (VVG to his friends) showed up  Sunday with a new wound;  his ear is split in two.  A few moments afterwards, Clipper showed up with part of his tail missing.  I think it is seed wars.

Monday, a new beginning, a new perspective, let's make today count.  Hoping everyone enjoys a wonderful week & I definitely have things on the To Do List for some new things.

  1. Back in the day I could have been that 7 year old and I would have loved having a grown up willing to discuss dragons with me - my favourites were brightly coloured. Hope you have a great week

    1. Helena any time you want to talk dragons, I will put the kettle on & we can chat. I think I like this little person's view of dragons vs the Harry Potter view of dragons :)

Poor little chipmunks, I didn't realise they were such little warriors.

    1. By this time every summer the chipmunks are all sporting some kind of scar - they can be quite aggressive & territorial, but I also think some battle scars are from near escapes from the neighbours naughty cat, Bella.

    1. Her lecture about germs & killing me was quite scary - obviously her day care centre has done an excellent job in instilling proper hand washing techniques. Red dragons of Wales I hope - see comment to Fiona.

  7. I find the idea of hiding marijuana amongst the maize rather amusing although I can obviously see the need for the helicopter check. Maybe not on a Sunday though.. Over here we get police helicopters checking houses in the winter. No frost on the roof suggests heat from growing it under heat lights!

    1. Being a cold winter climate with very cold temperatures, no frost on our roofs would suggest excellent insulation, which is SO necessary. I like how different signs would mean something different here/there.

  9. How FUN to learn some new things from a 4 & 7-year-old! They do know so many interesting facts - who knew the blue dragon was the best!

I just read one of my Trixie Belden mysteries & there was a case of marijuana being grown in the middle of a cornfield. I wondered if that sort of thing still occurred.
