Memos, Mail, Me: It's Monday - Jan 30th

Giving a Monday greeting to all & linking in with our hostess Sian at:   From High In The Sky

In the mail box this week only some flyers advertising a sale for the local hardware store.

Weather Canada has confirmed what I & many others already knew; there was a minimum record of sunlight during January 2017.  In this part of Canada we had just about 12 hours total in sunlight!  Come on February, show us what you have got in not only love, but sunshine & plenty of it. Oh & let's not forget about the rodent, Wiarton Willy,  who foretells whether winter lingers or not this Thursday coming.

Summer Manifesto, 2017 has a tentative list of adventures!

And just a tempting taste of what some of those plans are, they include these 2 places ...

  2. It's been miserable here, but no snow. I think I might plan a treat to cheer us up.

    1. Normally January is cold but sunny, well the world's weather is changing. Today we have had a fair amount of sun, so I will take it & say thank you.

  4. We seem to get much the same weather as you do. There was a bit of sunshine this morning, but the forecast is pretty dreary for the rest of the week. I'm curious, too, is this anywhere near you? If so, might get it on my list, too.

  5. Finding light to photograph my projects has been very hard this month, that's for sure. But I think things are on the up: a I type it's still light enough to just be thinking about putting the light on and last week the curtains would have been drawn by now.

Wishing you a good week ahead!

    1. I have been noticing the end of day light is lasting longer, the mornings still seem quite dark, but changes are a foot!

  6. 12 hours' total sunlight for the month? Oooooooo. I'd be interested to know how depression rates react over the winter.

    1. Many of the patients at the clinic are reporting being tired & lethargic all the time & the local university has seen a rise in student requests for counseling ... normally January is quite sunny although quite cold, not this year. I wonder if the consumption at the LCBO has gone up! I think I fall into the lethargic group.

  7. It's definitely a great idea to be thinking about summer to make it through the gray days! We've had sunshine the last few days here, temps in the high 60s, so I just had to sit outside on the patio today. Hoping you see some sunshine in February . . . and that the rodent doesn't see his shadow on Thursday!

    1. Oh how nice to be able to sit outside. Today was rather a sunny day, so I am saying thank you & knowing sunnier & warmer days are on the way. I was waiting to take the WPSH shadow item on Wednesday but I hope I cannot. (col).

    1. Yesterday's sun shine was such a wonderful change, more like a normal Jan. day bitterly cold but gloriously sunny. We Canadians get a lot of creating done with our long winter months (lol).

  11. Thinking of sunny adventures ahead when it's cold and gloomy sounds a great antidote to the winter blues. That parkland looks glorious ... And I thought we'd done badly here with 33 hours of January sunshine!
