Memo, Mail & Me: It's Monday April 3rd

A big Monday wave to all & linking in with our hostess, Sian at:  From High In The Sky

Can it be so, can it really be Monday again - such a quick turn around!

New from the patio this week was being outside on a lovely snowless Sunday afternoon taking stock of what's starting to poke through.  The tulips are certainly making their entrance into 2017 Spring well known for their growth is by far greater than the daffodils.

New in the shopping cart this week were two fold up deck chairs & a piece of green indoor/outdoor carpeting, that we will keep in our garage for Plan B of a summer's day.  Unfortunately we have some less than nice neighbours to the east of us & sometimes their rowdy behaviour drives us off the patio & to set up shop in the garage.

New, or should I say re-new, I attended church this Sunday.  The church has a new minister & I had the opportunity to listen to a few of his previous services off the church blog.  Churches with Face Book pages & blogs - well there is something to be said about moving with the times.  I keep forgetting that we are in the midst of lent so I always find it startling to walk into such a stripped down church & the altar so bare.  Thankfully those rules don't apply to the church gardens & the gardens surrounding the mediation patio were robed in the royal purple of crocus.

New harvest of California strawberries are in - isn't this the biggest single berry you have ever seen!  So big & yet still quite sweet.

    1. Jen the tales I could tell about the easterly neighbours, we have tried talking to them about several things, it never works. Oh well an 8 foot fence should help LOL!!!

  3. Inddor/ outdoor carpeting sounds interesting. Maybe it's a bit like the fake grass we were so tempted to get this year, to solve our moss problem. Bet most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Wishing you a good week, with some peaceful patio time.

    1. We looked at the carpet pieces that look like grass, this is material that is flat like indoor carpeting but can withstand the elements. I have seen someone with their entire front yard in the fake grass & it is hard to tell it's not real.

    1. I cannot wait until we get local strawberries but for now California can send us their bounty (lol). I think we may get only 1 more tussle with winter & it won't be too bad or long.

  5. That's a great splash of crocus you have there. Our daffs are beginning to go over now. Dad and I deadheaded quite a few yesterday. Still more varieties in bloom though, and the tulips are budding up. Hope the church service was fulfilling. I have been reading a blog/sermons written by an old school friend, who is now an ordained minister. We'll see how that goes!

  7. I'm sorry to hear you have neighbours that aren't that neighbourly.

I'm always in awe of how spring shows her face, and exacted all the snow you've had, it must bring a smile to your face. Have a lovely week

    1. Oh the tales & woes of our easterly neighbours ... I'll say no more for now. Yes spring does have a lovely face about her & she does bring cheer to my face.

  8. How awful to have neighbors that drive you off your patio! We had fabulous strawberries in Florida, and I haven't been willing to buy any here yet, but if you say they're sweet, I'll try later this week!

    1. As I told "my" minister, this love thy neighbour is really pushing against me. Over the winter we were getting strawberries from Peru, it was a real hit & miss in flavour. This batch from California was a risk, but as a treat (a bit pricey) I enjoyed & felt satisfied until the local berries come in.

  9. Wow, that strawberry! English strawberries are a bit tasteless at this time of year, we have to wait until June for the gorgeous juicy ones to appear - how lucky you are to have them so early in the year.
What a shame your neighbours can affect how you spend a sunny afternoon, thank goodness you have a plan B!

    1. Oh yes always a Plan B or Plan F in place. I was surprised that these berries from California were sweet since they truck them in over a great distance, I think I was lucky I had a tasty batch. We have to wait until June for local berries - oh so far away ... wistful sigh.

  10. Argh...I feel your pain about the neighbors!!
We have been enjoying French strawberries a couple of times.
They are more expensive then the Spanish ones but they are absolutely delicious!!

    1. I've heard a few of my English relatives talk about the Spanish ones or those coming in from Belgium, but never French. Oh I think of French champagne & strawberries as a treat!

  11. Interesting that your tulips are ahead of your daffs. Noisy, disruptive neighbours should be banned!
