Five in Five On The 5th - January 2018

Five in Five On The 5th -

Joining in with Sandie's Five in Five On The Fifth at: Sandie At Itchifingers

Today when we woke the temperatures were unbelievably cold, with the wind chill factor it was -33(c).  The news is filled with warnings about the bitter cold, telling us how quickly unprotected skin will freeze - takes less than 5 minutes of exposure for you to receive serve frost bite!  So with all that in mind, the clinic is closed & no Saturday appointments to prepare for, I'm indoors for the day. Even looking out the windows is too cold a thing to do.  So what's a girl to do - craft of course.

My five this month are some of my newly purchased or gifted templates to use with my Big Kick die cutting machine - this would be my best purchase of 2017.   I can use these metal die cuts for scrap booking, calendar (daytimes) or card making.

My Five in Five On The 5th;  Shapes ...

Nested Shapes - stars

Numbers - so useful

Letters, upper & lower case - new- on sale - 55% off

Seasonal Shapes - the package that started the die cutting "need"

Phrases - so very useful

  1. Goodness Mary-Lou I just can't imagine temperatures that low! I've just been watching the news and it certainly does look severe. Keep warm and I hope it doesn't cause too many problems.
I have a Big Shot machine and a collection of dies. They are so versatile and lucky you getting bargains and new ones as gifts. Thank you for joining in this month, and enjoy your excuse to craft! LOL

    1. Thanks Sandie. So far no problems at our house or in our little village. I just tell myself this deep freeze will kill off all those lingering flu & cold gems!

  2. Yep, it's too cold to even walk to the mailbox to check the mail. Not leaving the house today, and if the forecast is correct, not leaving tomorrow either. Just finished cleaning and organizing, and ready to sit down to make cards. You've made some great choices for your dies. I have to admit having quite an addiction to them, and having collected over at least 15 years, have quite a collection. I've never seen the fourth set, though, and just love that little Adirondack chair!

    1. Karen the Adirondack chair is a set from Stampin'Up & there is a stamp set that matches, I didn't get the stamps. I ran an errand this morning but it took my vehicle ages to warm up - yeah for car seat warmers!

    1. There's all kinds of jokes about Ontario being colder right now than the south pole! We have broken low temperature records for this time of year. Forecast is +5(c) & rain next Wed. Extremes always in Ontario.

    1. It is cold & when you go outside it really hits hard, no walks as breathing in the cold is tough. Horses are only going out for a couple of hours because it's quite hard on their lungs.

  5. I'm another one who can't imagine how cold that is! I'd like to experience it just once (in appropriate clothing!). Stay snug Mary-Lou!

    1. Ontario is all about extremes, sometimes winter frigid weather, summer humid & hot & yes we do get the in between lovelies in late Spring & early Autumn. It's all about "getting use to it" (lol).

    1. As much as I've enjoyed "forced" indoor activities, I'll ready for some outside fresh air time, just will have to wait until last next week when the temperatures rise. Patience is a virtue much in demand right now (col).

    1. Well hello Liz. I look forward to seeing your 5 in 5 on the 5th. It is too cold & I've had more than enough; right now the sunshine is wonderful & fools you into thinking warmer, but no more frigid temperatures & record lows. Darn!

  9. Oh goodness, what amazingly low temperatures ... We've had minus ten here and I cannot imagine how to function in lower ones. You have my admiration! Crafting sounds just the right thing to be doing. Sending you warmest good wishes for 2018.
