Happy New Year
Source: Internet |
I do hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas & a good start to the new year. WOW 2018 already - surely a gift.
I think Father Christmas was better to me that Father Time has been. So now we start with resolutions to a better self, a better waistline, a better bank balance, better relationships, better everything. Of course there are many who pick one guiding word for the the year.
"What is necessary to change a person is to change his awareness of himself". - Abraham Maslow
Before Christmas the word Joy found me as my theme to observe the Christmas season with. It was wonderful company & I did indeed find so much Joy in the season. Although it's not a word that has settled to guide me through 2018.
I sat quietly just after Boxing Day to see if a particular word would shed some light upon me. What came up for me was a verb of action; focus. I need to focus, to pay attention to a number of things in my life as I move in with 2018. I pulled out my long forgotten Angel cards because I thought it's just a good a place to start as any. I drew 12 cards, one for each month of where & what I need to focus on or study for that month & one card to be my overall guiding thought. As focus is a word of action, it means I need to make some changes on things I bring into focus. Scary although I am feeling quite comfortable with this choice & I look forward to seeing what plays out in the months to come.

I will leave you now with my favourite toast to a new year.
A Happy
New Year!
Grant That
I May
Bring No
Tear To Any Eye
When This New Year
When This New Year
In Time Shall
End,
Let It Be Said I've
Let It Be Said I've
Played The
Friend, Have
Lived &
Loved & Labored Here,
And made
of it a happy year.

Good choice of word, you can use it in many aspects - I look forward to finding out what you will be focusing on as the months go by this year.
ReplyDeleteThank you Deb. Plans are to make focus a word of action throughout 2018.
DeleteI like your choice of word for this year and look forward to hearing how your choice to 'focus' enhances 2018 for you.
ReplyDeleteI haven't decided on mine yet - still dithering between two possibilities.
Thank you Eileen. I look forward to reading what word you have settled on - of course you could have both words & incorporate ...(col).
DeleteHappy new year! Here's hoping 2018 will be kind to us all. I think you have hit on a great word. Hope it takes you to places of wonder. Here's to the next twelve months, Mary-Lou!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lady Ella. I am also hoping for a kind 2018. Have you picked a word?
DeleteIf I do it, it will be "strong". However, I'm not sure what you're meant to do once you have your word. Thanks for the links - I will have a read later.
DeleteTalk to me about Angel cards!
Will send info on Angel cards. I like strong for you, I think it's a good word.
DeleteHappy New Year! I don't pick a word, but will join you in bringing a new and more deliberate focus to the year. I've given thought to possible resolutions and have decided that -like you- "better" is what I'm aiming for.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your Edgar Guest poem. It resonates with me :) Thx!
Yes Edgar's poem is an all time favourite. Resolutions I think have a strong uncomfortable feeling for many. Better is what we all hope for. Cheers to a 2018 full & rich with better.
DeleteThat's a good choice of word! I confess that I'll be using the same word as last year (and I explain why in a post on Thursday). Happy New Year to you and Mr Man!
ReplyDeleteIf your previous word works, then I say go with it & maybe there are things the word felt you had yet to discover about it ... already focus is at play in my life, so that's a good thing.
DeleteGreat choice! I'll be interested to hear more about the Angel cards which I know nothing about. I've chosen my word for 2018 and will get a post up once we're back home. Love the poem which is also new to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen. I will send you some links & info about the Angel cards.
DeleteWhat a great word to choose to focus on ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracy. I am looking for, four supporting words to Focus as every star needs a support cast. (col).
DeleteFOCUS is such a great word & something we could all use more of at times! I'm looking forward to following your year and reading about the things you choose to FOCUS on and study throughout the year.
ReplyDeleteMy word this year is FRESH & I'm looking for better everything with this word as I take time to freshen up lots of areas of my life, our home, and my routines!
Thanks Melissa. I am settling in with Focus & have picked the four supporting words to accompany our journey. I like your Word of Freshen. I Focused on some areas in our home that needed freshing; a new cutting board; some new makeup; a new clothes brush - little things that needle away waiting to get done, are now done - yeah Focus for the win.
