Me on A Monday - January 29th

And here we are again, arriving at Monday.

Oh my, the buzz over the last week about this book has been popping up on SO many blogs & F/B posts.  Another book in the arsenal of how to live a good life in spite of having the suggestion of death in the title.

I have the ebook on request from the library & will add this to my Winter Reading List.  Both my parents were pack racks & it's a gene I fear more than the other genes of illness & disease.  Thankfully Mr Man & I are both neat, tidy & order kind of folks, but still I worry about what can only be described as breeding that goes on in my cupboards of plastic food containers.  I must go through this pile at least twice a year & each every time there seems to be more.  You can check my purchase receipts & you will find no purchases made but how are they getting into my cupboards, into my life?

Earlier in the year I signed up for email Merriam Webster's Word of The Day - increasing your vocabulary.  See, I was ahead of the clutter free zone, no desk top paper calendars with a word to learn each day.  It's all clutter free electronically sent.   There have been some interesting words.  This ties back to last year when I couldn't settle on One Little Word for the year but resolved to pay attention to my choice of words. One of my favourite words showed up this week.

At work last week when I was once again interviewing for reception at the clinic, I interviewed a lady that is a private yoga instructor; she does not work out of a studio but comes to your home to work with you & her focus - are you ready? - is restorative yoga!  Yes! Once again when you put it out there, The Universe will deliver but not always in the fashion you had in mind.  Anyway, this lady has wonderful energy, although because of her schedule, not a good fit for reception.

And while I speak of interviewing, the boss man put it upon me to find a replacement for our RMT (registered massage therapist) as ours was moving on as of Jan 30th & when I was reviewing resumes (CVs) I came upon someone applying for reception but was just qualifying as an RMT, so I reached out to her, said forget reception, what about massage;  boss man interviewed & we have hired her as our new RMT.  Some days you win ...

I'll see everyone on Wednesday with some of my first WPSH finds.  Hope everyone has a neat & tidy week.

  1. I do hope you have luck filling that reception post soon - who knows what CVs you may find in the mail this week?

    1. The job has a curse upon it, this I am sure of. With changes we are only open 2 days a week & I have only 1-3 hr shift to offer the new person, but no one wants because most need more hours. Cursed I say, cursed.

    1. Oh Jenn that position I think has the Lord Voldamort curse upon it - if they are good, they leave & the ones that just cannot do the job, we have to let go. With changes so recently at the clinic I now am trying to hire with only 1 shift a week to offer - no one wants it.

  3. I'm not familiar with this book, but I'll look for it. My mother was not a pack rat, and every time she'd go through another clearing out she would say that it would be to go through after she died and she might as well go ahead and get it done.

I love yoga, and I enjoy seeing it show up in blogs I follow :) Good luck with finding someone for the receptionist position.

    1. So far my instructional DVD on restorative yoga has been helpful. I am really focusing on my breathing, the kind done from the belly & not high in the chest, which is where my anxiety resides (apparently, so I'm told).

  4. I am smiling at the appearance of synchronicity on your blog, because I have read 'Death Clearing'at the start of January and have just have delivered a book on restorative yoga :).

    1. Oh Alexa that is amazing synchronicity. I always get a tingle when it happens, so thanks for sharing. Must ask though, did Death Clearing inspire you & help with de-cluttering?

  5. That book is on my list to read when we return from our trip in February. I've been reading about it for several months. One of my blogging friends has finished it, and said it was inspirational. I could use some inspiration when it comes to serious cleaning out. Good luck with the hiring. It does seem like it's an ongoing issue!

    1. Hope you have a great trip. De-cluttering & sorting I think is done in short bursts otherwise, I know I tend to start second guessing my decisions to release stuff from my life.

  7. I am afraid we are clutter bugs. The trouble is it's always the things I throw out that I then find I want.

  8. Goodness, you really are having quite a time of it over staff vacancies! I've heard a lot about the 'Swedish Death' book and I'm already a fan of Marie Kondo (although I tend to do one room at a time). Wishing you a good week!

    1. I believe the current problem is the lack of hours possible to work in a week. Mr Man says I should just hire someone, anyone & then quit. My style is to ensure I leave it without guilt. There were parts of Marie Kondo's book I liked & have applied in my own organization, especially my closet.

  9. Haven't heard of that book. I wonder whether I "need" it, or would find I needed it if I read it. I do hang on to things "just in case" and am often glad I did. But I enjoy purging from time to time too (though, like Maggie, it is not unknown to then go looking for something weeks later, only to realise it has been relagated!)

    1. Maybe you can borrow the book from the library. I think we all have our own styles for de-cluttering & it's got to work for you.

    1. Thanks JoAnn. It is funny how The Universe will connect the dots for us & to us!
