Me On A Monday - April 30th

Well didn't that month go by fast!?  Happy Monday everyone

It's been busy in the garden this week.  We were able to get all our front & side gardens cleaned up & we made a start in the back garden by cleaning up the two gardens by the patio.  In our water feature we found not only lots & lots of leaves, but 3 dead mice; so once again we are going back to the Pinterest idea boards for a better solution to a above ground water feature.

During the last ice storm, one of our evergreens broke when the ice on the branches was too heavy.  Luckily the break was only partial & Mr Man was able to screw the branch together & wrap with tree bandage to hold it together.  Hopefully this will allow the wound to knit back together & grow some strong bark.  This method worked a couple years ago on our burning bush that broke from too much ice.

When I was tidying through some "stuff",  I found a book/journal that I can honestly say I don't remembering purchasing.  Maybe as one of my last "Listening" moments from my April's Angel cards, I should take this as a sign about getting my better eating plans & ideas into place - doing rather than thinking about. The only thing I don't like about this particular journal is that it starts on Mondays & I'm a Sunday week starter.  What about you, what day do you consider the start to your week?

May's Angel card is Emerging;  "your Angels are guiding you to honour your true feelings by expressing them to yourself & others.  They are also guiding you to a new level of inner peace as you let your true self come out & play."

The tulips & daffodils are certainly emerging from their winter slumber & do feel now it is safe to come out.

I haven't been creative at all this week & I feel I need to spend some nurturing time this week as I do feel a little empty.

We had lots of hospital visits with my sister.  A little set back came about on Saturday when the surgeon was in to tell her that they found bacteria in & around a piece of metal from the car accident days, I think one of pins that held her hip & pelvis together.  She then had a visit from the Infectious Disease Doctor who discussed a 3 week treatment plan to rid her body of this bacteria.  YIKES!

Mr Man says one of my weirder things is I collect my dryer fluff/lint & place outside for the birds to use as nesting materials.  When I was little we use to cut up bright coloured wool , a colour for each of us & then we would watch to see which nests had what colour(s).

And off we go to begin a new month - the merry month of May.

  1. My week starts on a Monday, Sunday being the restful day at the end of the week.

I love the thought of you all cutting up the wool and then watching to see what the birds use to build their nests.

Sorry to hear that your sister has this infection to deal with on top of everything else. Prayers for a speedy recovery for her.

    1. Thanks Eileen for your prayers, very much appreciated. I am not sure why or when I started making Sunday my start of the week ...

  2. Sorry to hear about your sister's set back - warm thoughts for a speedy recovery.
My general week starts on Monday because of the school timetable, but my meal planning week begins on a Sunday ...
I might try putting out the fluff from my tumble dryer - birds using it for nesting material is certainly greener than simply putting it in the bin.

    1. It's funny yesterday's dryer lint was green - towels so it would be hard to see way up in the trees.

  3. How lovely to have been able to get out into the garden. I have too, and it is very energising. Sorry to hear sister is still in hospital but actually thank goodness they discovered the problem with the old metalwork. Who knows how long that might have gone undetected, had she not been in the right place at the right time! Hope all downhill from here onwards.

    1. "downhill" as in the opposite of an uphill struggle - not, obviously, in the sense of getting worse!!!

    2. Lady Ella I knew what you meant & thank you. I spent about 15 minutes after work in the garden, snatching the moments where & when I can :)

  4. I like the idea of looking for the wool in nests. I don't think there is much shortage of material around here itch sheep wool, hay, straw, dust, mud etc etc in abundance.
Hope they get the infection sorted. Orthopaedic infections frequently involve prolonged antibiotic regimes.

    1. Thanks Maggie, we are just finding out how "bad" this is. She has anIV bag of antibiotics every 4 hours & they said for 3 weeks! It is really scaring me. I chop up some of my old plant stalks for the birds & the robins get the mud from the field behind us.

  5. Enjoyed your post. Hope your sister does well with her treatment. I put out dryer lint also for the birdies. I love the quote from Edwin Way Teale - he is one of my favorite authors and I've read every single book of his. Happy week ahead.

  6. I'm definitely a Sunday starter. Yes, school started on Monday, but thinking and planning always hit hardest on Sunday nights. I always choose calendars with Sunday as the first day. So sorry to hear about your sister's setback. It does sound intimidating, but hopefully, they'll soon have it under control. I'm keeping her (and you) in my prayers.

    1. Karen thank you for the prayers for both my sister & me. The ladies at the church gave me a prayer shawl to give to her & she's really enjoying that.

    1. Hello Jane, nice to see you pop round. Thank you for your well wishes. I like to think my dryer lint is providing a nice cosy nest.

  8. My only water features are different-height bird baths, and I'll be interested in seeing what water feature you settle on.

Sundays start my week, too. I understand those folks who think of the Saturday/Sunday week-end as a unit, though. I'm glad they found the bacteria issue and have a plan to fix it. Undiscovered medical issues can cause such problems! I hope May finds her steadily improving and then better than ever by June :) I never had much luck with lint or yarn, but I try to keep my patio a bit rough so there's plenty of natural clutter for the birds to choose from.

I missed T Tuesday completely this week, so I'm wishing you a Happy Wednesday!

    1. We are now on the hunt for something similar to the photo - still early in the season so not a lot out at the garden centres. We just got word that they will be moving my sister to a rehab hospital before the weekend - it's quite a distance from us so travel time increases! But good that she is progressing so quickly, gives me hope.

    2. I know it'll be hard to have her even further away, but if she keeps improving at this rate she'll be back home in no time :) Rehab is a life-saver, isn't it!
