Take Three Thursday - Kinder Celebrations

In an effort to notice more of the ordinary in my life, I have decided to share what I have noticed this week in Take Three Thursday.   The idea is to take 1 - 3 photos that are linked some how; by theme, by colour, by date, by moment,  by points of view. There is no formal link in but please feel free to join in.   What have you noticed this week?

Please have a wander over to see what these folks have noticed this week:

Maggie: Farmer's Wife Day By Day
Karen: Random Reflections
Melissa: Daily Life, Bits & Pieces

About the neighbourhood there are some that decorate for the harvest or Thanksgiving, of which I am like minded.  I am not one for the Halloween scare decorations that seem to be getting worse & worse for the gorge factor.

I'm sticking with kinder gentler season finds;
I think one of my favourites

"October gave a party; the leaves by hundreds came, the chestnuts, oaks & maples, and leaves of every name.  The sunshine spread a carpet, and everything was grand.  Miss Weather led the dancing, Professor Wind the band."   source unknown

  1. They're all lovely. I often think that I'd like to 'decorate' for a theme outside of Christmas, but two things stop me: where do I keep the stuff when it's not in use (I have enough problems storing a 7' Christmas tree) and what if someone then pinches it?

    1. Storage is a concern I share. It's why I keep non Christmas items to things that can be folded or rolled flat & to a minimum. Flowers are my go to for Thanksgiving, this year I did purchase a small pumpkin, but I worry that it will get smashed up on my driveway, so it's close to the front door.

  2. Oh what lovely decorations. I did look at the decorations in our local shop today with a view to getting something for Leo but to be honest, it was all just scary stuff. Nothing like your lovely scarecrow!

    1. It seems scary is the way to "celebrate" Halloween - I don't get it & I don't like it. Good luck finding some harvest themed decorations.

  3. I like Halloween decorations but not all month long lol I think Autumn decorations like these are good through the entire season from September through Thanksgiving. Pumpkins and scarecrows seem especially appropriate :)

    1. I like that you can now get white pumpkins both in the real & the fake, opens up decorating possibilities.

  4. Lovely - cute and artistic, and tasteful. Slowly seeing more of this sort of stuff around these parts, but I think not as much as in N America.

    1. There's so much motorized stuff for Halloween, there's one display on my walk that has things jumping out when you walk by - not too bad in daylight but I avoid for my evening walks.

  5. Seemingly Meaford had a wonderful display of scarecrows last week. I didn't get to go but will try to get there next year.

    1. I've heard about the Meaford display of scarecrows - it will be on my to do list for new year also. Lots of fall fairs still going on - Erin has a big one this weekend coming.

  6. I'm with you - no scary stuff for me. The photos are so fun and well done. The poem is one of my favorites too. Happy week my dear.

    1. Thank you JoAnn. I'm not a fan of gore in movies either. I want to be entertained not scared. Harvest celebrations are my speed, my cup of tea.

  7. Like you, I'm into the gentler decorating for fall. I got the house decorated before we left, but left the outside until we get home, so Matt didn't have to take care of it. I have an idea for a new pumpkin arrangement. We'll see how it works. I especially like the second of your finds this week.

    1. I hope we get to see photos of your new pumpkin display. I always worry about the pumpkins getting taken or smashed up. The people that did the second display always have lovely tasteful displays for all season & holidays & their house is one of the old stone cottages restored.

    1. I've walked by a few more times hoping the home owners would be out so I could ask where they got it from, no luck yet.

  9. Super scarecrows! Much more artistic than scary stuff from a shop :).

    1. I think some people have such a knack for creating wonderful outside displays ... some Halloween stuff isn't too bad, but it's not a favourite time for me. I'll stick to harvest celebrations. :)

  10. Having read this I believed it was rather enlightening. I appreciate you spending some time and effort to put this information together. I once again find myself personally spending way too much time both reading and commenting. But so what, it was still worth it!
