In
an effort to notice more of the ordinary in my life, I have decided to share what I have
noticed this week in Take Three Thursday.
The idea is to take 1 - 3 photos
that are linked some how; by theme, by
colour, by date, by moment, by points of view. There is no formal link
in but please feel free to join in. What have you noticed this
week?
Please have a wander over to see what these folks have noticed this week:

This week on my walks, which were a quick step since it was chilly, windy & wet, I noticed that neighbours up the street have added to their cement statue/cartoon figures. I have posted photos of Tweety Bird before, but now Tweety Bird has company of Sylvester the Cat. While amusing to see the first time, I have to think, no, not in my back yard thank you very much.
A few facts about Sylvester. His full name Sylvester J. Pusycat Sr. He is a three time Academy Award winning anthropomorphic character. The three that won Academy Awards, the most for any starring Looney Tunes character are Tweeti Pie, Speedy Gonzales & Birds Anonymous. t
I wouldn't like it much either. Do the owners of the property have children?
ReplyDeleteNo kids at this house. It's am older Mother,Father with their daughter & SiL. They host an outdoor Easter egg hunt each year although the turn out isn't great because usually our weather is still quite cold. Their gardens don't have a weed any where.
DeleteNot to my taste. An interesting piece for a temporary exhibit, but I'd get tired of it if it were there all the time.
ReplyDeleteThe more I walk by, the more I feel, so over seeing these oversized statues ... but it's not my home, not my dollar ...
DeleteIndeed. Different strokes, variety is the spice of life, and all that. But I wouldn't want it in my yard lol
DeleteNor me ... the one thing is it would be easy for other neighbours to give directions - just look for these big statues, I'm the house XXX doors away (lol).
DeleteI'm not a fan either. When my daughter lived in Ashland, OR one of their neighbors had one elaborate display of those balloon figures after another. The Halloween display was particularly garish!
ReplyDeleteIn some regards these statues are better than the junk/garbage piles our next door neighbours has. I know we can't pick our neighbours BUT ...
DeleteWell all I can say is it's interesting how different peoples taste differs!
ReplyDeleteI agree Maggie, the old saying, one man's treasure, another man's 8 foot cement statue!
DeleteYes, amusing the first time you see it but not so much if it is a permanent fixture!
ReplyDeleteI saw yesterday (Friday) that he has another large cement statue in the back of his pick up truck - wonder what this one is (not).
DeleteWell, I'm intrigued! I hope to be enlightened in due course!!
DeleteI've been walking by & I can report that said statue is out of the back of the truck but I cannot see it (yet). One of the neighbours told me he buys these cement statues raw & paints them himself. Once it's out for viewing I will snap some photos to share.
DeleteLady Ella I discovered the statue in the pick up - it's a large winged eagle - right now it is sitting on the driveway so not sure where they are going to put it.
DeleteThis is so fun.
ReplyDeleteI am sure the kids get a kick out of this display.
