I have been laid lower than I had expected with this nasty super cold virus. Because it's a viral infection, no anti medications can be prescribed. So I have suffered through the last 9 days of cold but
The over the counter medication that I have succumbed to taking is the great Canadian cure; Buckleys - it tastes awful but it works (that's the company's slogan). It is quite the seasonal cocktail because it contains Canadian Balsam & Pine Needle Oil as two of it's ingredients. Cheers
Being sick has messed up all my well thought out & organized plans for getting Christmas "done" & ready. Now I'm in the position of scrambling to get in the food supplies, all the other stuff can wait. Of course with or without my plans, Christmas will arrive & depart on the 25th.
Some of the things I've gained through this cold were discovering the joys of intermittent napping, especially those on the sofa in front of the fireplace. Two lovely fur girls keep me company. They never once complained about my coughing - I'll say no more about that.
So while I'm behind in plans & things, I am right on target for the joy of Christmas.
Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas & for our household, let's hope in includes a "Silent Night", which will mean no coughing & the Buckleys is working ...
Keep on getting better so at least you can take enjoyment from activities on 25th. Glad you have the most important things and plans in place for the big day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lady Ella. This morning I feel loads better, that Buckleys works! I want my sense of smell & taste to return for the big day! Happy Christmas to you & yours.
DeleteHope there's significant improvement before the big day! Being ill is never convenient, but it always seems worse during the holidays. I've never heard of Buckley's but it sounds dreadful. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Have a Blessed Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling a bit better, the Buckleys is working. To say this is a Canadian treasure might be going too far, but I cannot think of anyone that doesn't know about it. The whole campaign is that it does taste horrible, but it works - people swear by it & at it! Thank you for your prayers :)
DeleteUghh rotten cold! I feel for you! Hope it loosens its grip soon. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteI feel the congestion breaking up, which I think is a good thing. To the person that "gave" this to me I can only think of Home Alone 2 "Merry Christmas you filthy animal".
DeleteThat virus hit here too - that cough is so annoying and seemed to go on forever! Hopefully you will be well on the road to recovery in another couple of days and ready to embrace the festivities. Happy Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThankfully my cold isn't anything worse & not the dreaded flu. So many complications can arise from these super bugs. I'm embracing the joy while I'm kept at bay from embracing anyone! (col).
DeleteHope your cold improves enough to allow you to enjoy your Christmas with Mr Man and the fur girls. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Eileen & I hope & trust you'll be well to enjoy your plans throughout the holiday. I cannot wait to get started on the WPSH.
DeleteMy daughter is evidence that the cough can hang on for weeks. But I hope yours is a quick and uncomplicated recovery. I've never heard of Buckley's, but I'm happy you found something that works.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that Buckley's hasn't made it south of the border, truly it works & quickly. The cough is most annoying to myself & those around me.
DeleteYour Christmas elves are adorable! Keep taking the Buckley's (ugh!), hope you're sorted by Christmas Day. Best wishes to you all.
ReplyDeleteI'm so use to Buckley's awful taste now, I don't need a chaser! I've decided if not better by the 27th back to the doctor I go.
