Me On A Monday - March 23rd

Good morning all.  Not a lot going on in my life as we continue with social distancing/self isolation.

A Sign I Made A Couple Of Years Ago - Hangs In Our Kitchen
Spring arrived on Thursday night at 11:49pm so I was not able to get out to welcome her until Friday morning.  Other than my beloved chipmunks (so far only two have ventured out of their hiddy holes), there's not much happening in the garden.  But nature is like that, so much unseen work going on & then it springs forward or up.   There is definitely a different key the birds are singing in.  I'm holding on to my belief that this Spring of 2020 will be one of renewal.

While staying home I have found a few things to Nourish myself.  I have returned to wearing perfume every day.  In the last few years I have observed the request of being scent free & I totally get why that is necessary.  Scents can trigger memories and/or, can cause headaches & migraines.  But now it's just me & Mr Man & he's mostly in his office, so I give myself a little light squirt in the morning.  My favourite right now is Chanel 19.

Of course I am finding it is important to keep to routine as much as possible.  I make sure I am not languishing  in my pajamas all day.  I'm not doing the full dress as if I was going out in public, I'm leaving the bra out of my dress code & you know that not only feels a little bit naughty, it feels very freeing.

"True friends are like a bra, close to your heart & there to support you."

  1. Perfume is one of the migraine triggers for me so I don't wear any. It's also a waste of money as I now don't have any sense of smell so would appreciate it anyway! I'm glad you have though ... the little joys of life are important, especially now.

I'm dressing every day but like you am not bothering with a bra ... comfort is more important. However I must put on on before the virtual choir practice tonight as we will all be able to see each other and I don't want to scare anyone of a sensitive nature 😂😂

    1. Well good luck with the virtual choir practice - I don't think anyone would notice my "girls" on the loose, it's still cold here so lots of bulky sweaters!

  2. What a brilliant quote!
It's so refreshing to see the blossom appearing on trees and the bulbs peeping out of the earth - no matter what is going on in the world, Mother Nature is still hard at work.

    1. We had snow this morning & it's a good month before we will see leaves or blossoms. I'm hoping for an early spring, we needs signs of better days to come.

  3. Waving at you from London!
Love that quotation - both funny and apt.

    1. I think you can get a mug with that quote on it. As I said to Eileen, with all the bulky sweaters still being worn I don't think anyone would notice my fashion choice - tshirt weather is months away.

  4. I love chipmunks! Did you get snow this morning? Unfortunately I'm one of those scent free people (runny nose, coughing, which inevitably leads to sinus issues)- so I'd have to "distance" myself from you (ha ha!) I must admit I'm not getting out of my pajamas and robe too early these days. Oh well, I've been getting up and getting dressed for work for 30 years, so I'm allowed a break. Have a good day! -Jenn

    1. Yes Jenn we got snow that is staying on the ground - it's pretty & Mr Man said he needs to fresh air so he's going to shovel even though rain is forecast to wash it all away. I say enjoy that new fashion freedom, I'm sure it's going to be enjoyed for a few more weeks yet.

  5. For no particular reason, I stopped wearing scents a couple of years ago. I get dressed and put on a bit of make-up every morning so I don't scare myself when I look in the mirror. Although we have a few snowdrops, some pretty tiny yellow flowers and daffodils peeking through, we also had a fresh coating of snow this morning.

    1. I doubt your looks would scare anyone, they see that lovely warm caring, loving smile. There are two homes in my neighbourhood that have a mass of snowdrops in bloom. It is such a wonderful sight. It has snowed all morning :(

  6. Our chipmunks have been out for a while now, and they are fun to watch as they scamper around. You got a great photo of that little guy. The perfume sounds like a lovely treat just for you :) We need a bit of pampering in these days. Happy T Day!

  7. Smiling here at that quote! and enjoying your photo as we don't have chipmunks here. A little something, like scent, to cheer you on and make you feel good sounds just the ticket for the fag end of winter. Unusually, we have had a splendidly sunny day here, and there is warmth in the sun though the wind is cold - and a walk in our largely unpeopled hills has been lovely.

    1. I love how the chipmunks get quickly use to me & will come when I call, they know I have peanuts. Our walks in the park have come to an end as they closed all public parks for the foreseeable future. I've now taken to walking in the corn field behind us.

  8. Oooh, more snow! Poor you. I have done the first couple of days' gardening for the year and find myself cheered by the flowers (now that they are no longer concealed by weeds!). Also went out with a fellow Rambler yesterday and walked 12 miles in beautiful sunshine. We were sensible, as were those few people we encountered... I really, really appreciated being able to do it - especially as I have a feeling it might be prohibited soon, thanks to silly people so far ignoring the polite requests to follow guidance. I don't understand how people can be so stupid/shortsighted/arrogant/irresponsible. Of course there are always a few idiots but I'm SO surprised at the scale of defiance/whining! (Yes, I know you know..!)

    1. Walks have been my saving grace but we are no longer allowed to walk with friends even if social distancing. It has to be in same resident family groups of no more than 5. I am very disappointed that some places/some people still do not get the serious nature of this virus.

  9. I, too, like that quote. Ever since I retired, I've taken my time getting dressed, but, I find that unless I wear certain supportive under garments, I don't feel like doing anything!

    1. That's a good way to signify going out; bra on! I have to go out later today so it will be bra on for sure.

  10. The snow here went very quickly but I managed a couple of photos before it disappeared. No bra for me either!

    1. Our snow is lingering on & today (Tues) it's calling for freezing rain :(

I read that John Tory has put all of Toronto on Emergency Status for the first time ever so as to be able to enforce people not gathering.

  11. I've also managed one or two bra-free days. Wishing we had chipmunks here - they are so much cuter than squirrels!

    1. I agree chipmunks are SO cute. Squirrels are just rats with bushy tails (col) except for the native red squirrels, they almost look like a big chipmunk without the stripes but so different.

  12. I usually rotate through several perfumes but have gotten lax about that and makeup since I am not going out. I guess I am in the minority, fully supported every day. 😉

    1. I've now moved to the scent of White Tea, it felt lighter. On Sunday for our online church service, I got fully dressed even though it's not two way seeing, I just felt like something normal.

  13. I agree, a routine helps when staying in ... although I haven't quite got one down yet. All my chores are getting done, we're eating well & have a stocked pantry, Robbie's working from home without any troubles, and lots of scrapbooking & reading are happening ... so I'm not gonna worry too much about the routine. :)
