I always enjoy your wisdom posts - you have the knack of choosing pithy saying which linger in the memory. And I feel a little ambivalent about this one. A kind of both 'yes' and 'well ...'. Yes to not fretting about things we can do nothing about, but I like to be mindful about all the things I am powerless to change individually (however dispiriting that can be) but which need change - because it keeps me alert to the injustice in the world and on the lookout for opportunities to join with others, or raise their awareness, to begin to effect a change, however miniscule ... I am hoping that makes sense!
This made me think of a continuing line in the film Bridge of Spies. Whenever Tom Hanks asks Mark Rylance 'Aren't you worried?' his reply is 'Would it help?' which is something to think about - does being worried about something you have no control over help make it go away?

ReplyDeleteHard to let go of some wrongs that you cannot put right. But your post reminds us that it is important to do so for out own well-being.
