Good Morning Everyone. Less than 2 weeks until Christmas. It's coming on fast.
We had a major power outage on Sunday from 3:45am until 11:30am which really impacted a lot of planned activities.
Our little village had our Farmer's Parade of Lights last Thursday. The farmers & their elves go all out to make it fun & spectacular. There were 30 floats for the 30th anniversary of the parade.
Here are a few of my favourite floats - photos posted from the community F/B page.
And now that I know that the big guy is in town, I need to be extra good. Happy week to all.

Thanks Eileen. The 2nd is a harvester but not the big combine type - that has Santa on it. The 2nd one is for lower crops like soy (at least according to the signage on it).

ReplyDeleteThe parade was fun. This power outage at least was "scheduled" so we were prepared, it just went on for 2 hours 45 minutes longer than the 5 hours scheduled :(

ReplyDeleteTo participate in this farmer's parade, you have to be invited & there's no shortage the number of farmers that want to participate. We the village folk benefit :)

Oh Bless I am being very good, OK I'm trying to be! We get several power outages a year in this village, I think we are use to it.

Thanks Deb. There are some really talented farmers that decorate to the 9th degree. Because I know the dairy farmer, I always cheer his float.
DeleteIt looks like a great parade and the photos are excellent! I wonder how long it takes the farmers to wash and deck their vehicles.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I see in their F/B group, they start in November for some of the big equipment. Although there is one float that is a manure spreader that would take, I am sure, several washing before I'd want to ride in, even for Santa! (col).
DeletePower outages during the winter are the worst! That parade looks like lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteThankfully our gas fireplace doesn't require electricity to run, so at least we can all gather in the family room & keep warm. We discussed about getting our propane barbeque tank filled so we could at least boil water & cook some food because we know we'll have at least 1-2 more outages over the winter.

ReplyDeleteI am always so impressed at all the lights each farmer manages to get on his or her float. We had a big storm blow through yesterday; freezing rain, sleet, snow & in the evening several hours of on/off power outages. We were told this outage was caused by a hydro (electricity) pole on fire just outside of the village. :(

ReplyDeleteMy own are not as effective & thankfully the "photographer" of the parade allows us all to share at will :) I like that the moon photo is not enhanced or retouched, it is straight out of the can as they say.
