From up high, flying freely is #15 - three flags on one pole, our national flag (on top), the provincial flag (to viewing left) and our township flag (white, to viewing right)
From down low on the ground, moving fast #7 - A Turtle - this is a large snapping turtle and certainly not the type of fellow I want to get TOO close to. He walked right out in front of me on the road, but by the time I pulled over, he was in the grass. I have named him Snappy. Did you know turtles can hiss?
From in between, I give you Alternative C - Rocking Chair - found outside a new to us restaurant (which was fulfilling part of My Summer Of Doing Manifesto, eat at 2 new restaurants along with Explore Wellington County).
you sure are keeping your eyes wide open all around for items - the multi flags is going to be hard for me as I don't think they are common here
ReplyDeleteHelena I was very surprised to capture the flags - there are so many rules in our region about multi flags on a single pole. And Rinda's challenge certainly have inspired in observing my surroundings ;)
DeleteGood for you! Everyone I've shown the list to has snorted at the flags. Consensus: impossible! (But I'm keeping 'em peeled!) That's quite some hulk of a turtle. I never thought of Canada as having such wildlife. Now googled this monster and am rather glad we don't have them here... The alligator snapping turtle looks even worse!
ReplyDeleteAn Alligator Snapping Turtle - no thank you, I hope never to cross his path. We do get a lot of snapping and painted turtles in this area. I was once told that if you have painted turtles in your pond you won't get snappers - I give testament to this being not true - the barn pond has both. There will be more wild postings in the future!
DeleteFound pics of painted turtles - I reckon I could make friends with one of those. (And now I'm wondering why traffic lights are a problem and why you'd need flagpole legislation...)
DeleteTraffic lights are ugly, busy; scoping out for the creative view (lol). Rules are about which flag is flown first, higher & the correct way around. I would have thought most countries have rules. Along with Canada, I know the US of A. also has flag rules. Painted turtles have some amazing patterns.
DeleteAh..getting the three flags is a good one. I've been wondering about that one :)
ReplyDeleteMy 3 flags was a chance drive by - I was going to try the local marina as I was sure there would be a boat or two flying more than one flag. Traffic Lights have me challenged.
DeleteI saw three flags flying on one pole as we raced along the Ohio Turnpike this weekend. Even if I'd known it was coming, I don't think I could have captured it with all the fast moving traffic. I'm glad to see yours, thinking this may not be as difficult as I've anticipated.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck Karen. It's funny how some items can be a challenge in one region/country but not another. Objects I have no problems "hunting" down, it's the ones that require people that push me outside of my comfort zone. Are you part of the FaceBook SPSH? The photos showing up there are amazing.
