Me On Monday - October 5th

As I take my mittens off, I am giving Sian a wave at http://fromhighinthesky.blogspot.ca/

Meridith Keeping Watch
A big change in the weather, especially in the over night temperatures /  I am never ready for the change of seasons / Busy week at the clinic, I was doing a lot of extra hours as one person took vacation and another was just starting / Two books on the go; Rising Strong (Dr Brene Brown) and Big Magic (Elizabeth Gilbert) - ummm lots of ideas now rumbling around / Many more doctor specialist eye appointments for Mr Man.  Looking like a second  eye surgery might be the answer /  Seeking out comfort foods / In the final stretch of all those federal government election adds / New TV season in full swing - not enjoying most returns and found nothing new to interest me / The slow garden clear up has begun & finding evidence of a raccoon - dirty creatures!!! /  Learning new billing methods at work - my brain hurts / Enjoying the comfort of two adorable fur girls, such love / Helping to dig out the horse blankets; are all the straps there?; these horses have a bigger wardrobe than me / A few days on the treadmill rather than walks outside but still keeping to a minimum of 10,000 steps a day /All the basement reno, clean up, tidy through complete - yeah! / Monday begins another chapter; one that I hope is filled with lots of commas for pause to savour.

  1. You're doing well with your walking if you are managing at least 10,000 steps a day. I have good intentions but never quite follow them through ... I should follow your example!

    1. Eileen I bought the Weight Watchers pedometer and clip it on first thing in the morning - I find it an amazing reminder.

  2. I can only echo Eileen. That sounds like a great number of steps. Good stuff!

I hope you find something nice to fill those commas in your week

    1. The pedometer is keeping me honest, plus it's a good reason to move & not sit in front of the TV so much - Slough is a vice I fight against.

  3. Hope Mr Man's eyes are sorted soon. Good on you for keeping up with all those steps a day ... too many of my steps are to get a snack :(
    Here's wishing you a lovely week x

    1. Louise, I not only have my step counter, but I did put on bell on my frig door, so it tinkles every time I open up the frig so it keeps my steps away from food :)

  4. Well done on those steps - it's not an easy target to make, especially when you have to be indoors at work. I smiled at your horses' wardrobe comment! Sending warm good wishes for the week ahead.

    1. Thanks Alexa. Most of the horses at the barn each have at least 5 types of sheets or blankets. One of our very special horses, the owner buys her a new winter blanket every year where as my horses always make due with blankets at least 10 years old, or the cast offs of the diva queen!

  5. 10,000 a day is fabulous. It sounds like you've been busy all around. Happy Monday.

    1. Thanks Susanne. 10,000 is apparently the minimum for health and trust me some days it is really hard to achieve. Walking outside in the winter is next to impossible, ice, cold & dark early so on to the treadmill I go, which then is easier to make the 10,000 steps - I watch DVD's while on.

  6. I love that comment about your horses' wardrobe!
I'm impressed that you manage your 10,000 steps a day, not so easy when the weather changes and going out for a nice long walk isn't such an appealing prospect.

    1. Thanks Deb - in spite of turning weather, I am still finding a walk clears my head, my next part is to do the proper breathing while walking - oh yes apparently there is a "proper" way and I'm not doing it (yet) :)

  7. I had to google to find out how steps translate into miles! Apparently 10,000 is around 5 miles so even more impressive than I thought. That's a great daily amount. I'm excited for the return of The Returned this month and I really enjoyed the BBC adaptation of The Go Between, one of my favourite books. What type of TV shows do you like? Thanks so much for your kind comment on my own Monday post. Have a great week with plenty of commas :-)

    1. WOW 5 miles - thanks for checking that out for me Fiona. As for TV I really look to be entertained with laughter or engaged with drama. Currently I watch Coronation Street (not sure what it is doing lately); Scott & Bailey; New Tricks; Masterpiece Theatre - Indian Summers; The Big Bang Theory & Modern Family, both of which I think are loosing the plot. Whoa that's a lot of TV! I really do hope things quickly improve for you & your son this week :)

  8. Well done on all rose steps! Hope everything turns out alright with Mr Man's eyes. My sister is beginning to find the nuisance of raccoons. Stealing the nectar from her humming bird feeder!

    1. Thanks Maggie. Mr Man is very stressed and scared about his eye because apparently the same thing could happen in the right eye. I can sympathize with your sister about the hummingbird feeder - I once had it too low so that even skunks were enjoying! I hate raccoons.

  9. The horses have a bigger wardrobe! :) Well, my dogs have more boots than I do! How we spoil our beloved animals!
Congrats on the 10,000 steps! And I do hope all goes well with your husband's eye surgery.

    1. Thanks for eye well wishes. Oh yes what I don't do for my fur girls - the cats & the horses. I certainly know their food labeling better than my own.
