Me On A Monday - September 21st

Good morning.  I am sharing some photos from my walk with a friend.  I've never been to the fairgrounds for a walk.  I knew about the lake but did not realize how big it is.  It was a nice socially distance, out of doors walk & it was certainly nice to see something new to me.  The only part of this walk & chat, was seeing one of the trees already displaying it's beautiful, but too early, Autumn colours.  We are meeting here for another walk & chat later this week.

a man made lake - the wildlife says thank you

no idea Fairy Lake was so large - it's horseshoe shaped

the community garden abandoned during COVID times

a memorial garden - would have sat but oh so many insects about

empty sports fields

I think this is an early sign the tree is struggling with inside rot

a splash pad for the kids - the water comes out of the fish's mouth

empty swing set

so peaceful

very few water lilies in bloom

this looks out to the mobile home park off in the distance

the rather large root system

I like the extreme height of this old tree

oh come on - this is too early for a change of colour!

more empty space with an excellent walking track

old tree - fascinating bark

To walk in nature is seeing all the miracles of nature, to walk with a friend is sharing in another miracle.

  1. What a lovely walk, but we've also noticed that the trees are turning colour much earlier this year. Strange to see playgrounds and splash parks empty isn't it?

    1. We have noticed the trees are turning much earlier; not sure if it is the change in temperatures (we have had two days of low record temperatures for the time of year) & the earlier summer drought. Autumn is such a reminder about change.

  2. What a wonderful place. Is that close to your home?

    1. It is about a 15-20 minute drive from me - a close to home treasure discovered! The only down side is that it is in a different county to me, where current numbers for infections are higher & have different COVID rules, which are stricter than my county. So picking times to ensure less traffic & matching our schedules has become a ballet of sorts!

  3. Oh I enjoyed your snapshots, and walking and talking with friends is always a delight. It is too bad about the abandoned garden, though. Post Covid it will be interesting to see which things spring back to life and which don't.

    1. I think the community garden was mostly run by seniors who did not want to risk being too close. I have admired the businesses that have risen to the many challenges COVID social distancing has incurred. I wonder how many people as individuals will come back to themselves after the pandemic has exhausted itself?

    2. I think the wise people and smart businesses or other entities will choose the best parts of both scenarios going forward - at least, I hope to do that.

  4. A beautiful walk. During these times, being outside with a friend is hard to beat! I'm with you, the changing of colors is happening all too soon. It's been very cool here, but is supposed to warm up this week--here's hoping. I'm not ready to move inside quite yet.

    1. Tomorrow's first day of Autumn promises a return to summer temperatures. Oh Mother Nature is quite a jokester! I was just happy to have a change of scene for my walks.

  5. That looks a lovely walk - Miss Tilly would certainly enjoy all the running around that she could do. :)

    1. I am hoping that this week's walk will have less insects about. Miss Tilly would be most welcome on the walk, but alas the rule is she has to be on a "controlled leash" ... but a long one would give her the illusion of running free (lol).

  6. It's wonderful to find different places to vary your walking environment. This is a lovely place!

    1. After the last several months (March-July) I was walking the same path, more than ready to explore somewhere new to me.

  7. Such lovely photos, with lots of interesting details ... You can feel the peace, and the emptiness, from here. Are playparks closed there? I'm sure that water-spout of a fish usually generates lots of excitement. The empty raised beds was a poignant sight - hopefully in years to come you'll be able to post a photo of them flourishing :).

    1. Some of the kiddie water parks were closed in this county; in my community ours was open for a few months. The playparks are open again although I wouldn't think a good idea, but that's me the Mrs Worry Wart.

  8. What a lovely place for a walk and how nice to be able to do so with a friend. The park looks so empty, though! I hope the community garden will be full of plants, next year.

    1. There were parts of the trail that run as the track for sports that was quite busy, but thankfully everyone keeping their social distance & wearing masks.

    1. We, my friend & I, are planning for a walk this week, so I'll be interested to see what changes the trees have made.
