It's Labour Day Monday, which is an annual holiday to celebrate the achievements of workers. A special cheer to all those deemed as essential workers during this pandemic.
It's also the day Queen Elizabeth I was born in 1533.

Celebrations on Labour Day Monday definitely require cake ... lots of it! Have a good time xx
ReplyDeleteI believe this year cake is a good replacement for all those Labour parades being cancelled. (wink wink).
DeleteCake is always a good idea, whatever the date or commemoration. :)
ReplyDeleteThere's a website that tells you what day we are celebrating everyday - sometimes there are several reasons to celebrate, so cake is the answer to this. (col).
DeleteAny excuse for cake is a good excuse for cake!
ReplyDeleteIf I look there's someone's birthday we should be celebrating most days - hence why I am getting all these emails from Noom & WW!
DeleteCake! It's not too late for me to put together a cake :) Great idea!
ReplyDeleteOh I hope you enjoyed your cake.
DeleteEvery day requires cake. Enjoy the holiday :0)
ReplyDeleteI believe you are in a round about way trying to recruit me to Slimmering World - lol. I have only 2 more reasons this month for cake; Mr Man's ignored birthday & then Bilbo & Frodo's birthday on the 22nd.
DeleteWell, I never knew that about Queen Elizabeth - thank-you! And yes, essential workers deserve our gratitude and a pay rise.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if our politicians accepted applause as their pay rise, they might just get it.
DeleteGorgeous portrait of Queen Elizabeth. I am currently reading Hilary Mantel's book "The Mirror and the Light" about Henry VIII and Thomas Cromwell, so Elizabeth features in it briefly.
ReplyDeleteAnne Boleyn & Elizabeth I are two of my most favourite historical persons. I read The Mirror & the Light - it was good but a long read. I barely finished the 3rd in the series - it took me a long time to read all 3.
DeleteHappy Holiday! Enjoy the cake!
ReplyDeleteThere will be more reasons this week for cake as Mr Man ignores his birthday ... but I don't!
DeleteWe didn't have cake Monday, but we did have a very relaxing day! Hope you are having a great week!
ReplyDeleteWe finished my attempt of pineapple upside down cake!
DeleteThe more cake the better!
ReplyDeleteI am of the mind, I'll celebrate anyone's birthday if there's cake.
