Me On A Monday - January 30th

"We could all take a lesson from January's weather ... it takes no heed of criticism."

The last Monday of the month. Did the month of January go fast, or was it a long month for you?  For the most part, in the area that I live, the weather was dreary & damp, so it made some days long.  But Mother Nature was not to be denied her turn at flinging winter at us - these last few days of January have been typical with lots & lots of snow & chilly temperatures.  I miss the sunshine.

  1. I feel that January has been extra long this year! Too much going on, maybe, but I shall be glad to welcome in February.
That is a lot of snow. I am currently looking at blue and grey sky and a hint of sunshine.

    1. January has been a long month for me as well, with so little sunshine, it felt like a heavy month. February has the promise of some activities to take my mind off dreary weather!! :)

  2. You must be counting the days until spring begins and the snow stops!

    1. Hopefully by April we should see the snow going. I may need to get myself some spring flowers to cheer me up.

  3. I was not surprised when the meteorologist said this weekend that we had had only 2 days of sunshine in January. We did have a few hours of brighter light over the weekend, but it's been one.dreary.month! We also got our first bite of winter snow last week, causing Tracy to reschedule an appointment (that almost never happens!) Stay warm. The days ARE getting longer, though, so that helps!

    1. I noticed on Sunday that it was still a little bit light at 5:30pm - I did a little dance in the kitchen. Today I noticed that the sun did try to make an appearance, but lasted only 10 minutes at the most ... no winter lasts for ever in spite of what Ned Stark said (Game of Thrones).

  4. So much snow! It looks lovely to me, someone who has never had to shovel and for whom an inch of snow is a rare delight.

    1. The first few snow falls of the season are always so pretty to look at & Mr Man must have snow for Christmas. But it just goes on sometimes for far too long. We sometimes get snow in May!!

  5. The snow looks pretty but I don't envy you ... I'd have taken some photos on the first day and then wanted it to disappear! January has been a long month but it always is for me. I miss the sunshine and bright days that are so lacking at this time of year. xx

    1. I did have the goal of making friends with winter this year; so far it's not been a huge success, but at least we aren't at war. Taking photos of snow is a challenge, especially when the daylight is SO gloomy.

  6. Oh gosh, our snow has now gone but it was been a very chilly and bleak month here too. Feeling for you! Hoping there will be a breath of warmth in February to cheer you!

    1. I'm thankful that February is a short month. In the last few years February has become the really snowy month of winter. I just would appreciate more sunshine days. :)

    1. Yes you are definitely getting much more snow than us. Your snow photos make it all look so pretty.

  8. It's been a long month for me. The lack of sunny days has been the worst part. Hope your snowblower did the trick this week - mine wasn't up to the job. The snow was too wet and heavy.

    1. Thankfully most of what snow we have received hasn't been too wet for the snowblower. Funny how just a few miles that separate us makes such a difference in temperature, of course we are also up on the escarpment.

  9. I hear you. I don't mind the snow, if we get some sun in between. More snow today!

    1. In trying to make friends with winter, I got some snowball shapers for Christmas. Thankfully the snow has been just the perfect texture for snowballs.

    2. I have never heard of snowball shapers ... now I have images of you hiding behind a hedge and lying in wait for the postman! (Or possibly the driver of the plough that churned up your grass. I hope what we see is the edge of the lawn and not a section across the top of it!)

    3. Lady Ella, snowball shapers, for my purposes, are little characters, a snowman, a reindeer, a teddy bear & snowflake. I have made an army of snow people about 2" high (lol). I was laughing the whole time shaping them. None are for throwing, plus our mail delivery is to a community box, not individual homes. Yes thankfully the ripped up lawn is on the edge & Mr Man says maybe they uprooted all of the Creeping Charlie weed. We can only hope.

  10. Looks like you got a fair amount of snow! Reminds me of the winters I spent in Wisconsin! The snow would last well into May, in places! Don't miss that, at all!
January felt like it flew by for me. Maybe because my daughter was here and I had her company.
I hope that spring comes early for you and some new spring flowers might be just the thing to brighten things up for you. :)

    1. Yes snow in May is not a rarity at all; I have many photos of the daffodils & tulips covered in snow. I am hopeful that February will be a sunny month, forecast is for cold but with some sunshine I can take.

  11. This January and February we have had swings in temps like never before -- it used to be you could count on very low temps and snow most of both months.
