Me On A Monday - March 27th

Good Morning.  Hope everyone had a good weekend. A quick round up of last week.

First surgery for Mr Man has been done & every thing so far is good, the doctor said surgery went better than expected.  All the nurses & doctors were incredibly kind & cheerful.  It was a very long day for us, we left the house at 10am & got home about 6:40pm.  Thankfully the weather was dry & clear so made the driving part for me easier than anticipated.  When the 2nd surgery happens in 6-8 weeks, I'll know exactly where everything is, so no worries about driving.

Several people who attend my church are at the moment sick with  Covid.  One of our elderly members was taken to hospital for oxygen support & according to her husband the doctors said they haven't seen any one as sick with Covid as she is, in 6 months. Thankfully she is fully vaccinated.  Also down with Covid is our minister, who is at home but very ill, so that could impact upcoming Palm Sunday & other Easter celebration. A reminder that the virus is still around & you just never know who is going to get really sick with it.

Our weather continues to be grumpy, Old Man Winter has enjoyed himself & really doesn't see the need to move on.  Ms Spring wants to be running the place now but she's too polite to kick the old fool out & is working along side him.  I say to Old Man Winter, here's my hat, boots, coat & mittens, what's holding you up?

I am waiting in great anticipation to see if my planting (again) of snowdrops makes a showing.

Take care & hope everyone has a good week.

  1. That sounds like good news on the the first surgery. Is this the one where he has to go to the hospital every day to be checked or am I getting mixed up?

Covid numbers seem to be rising over here as well. I just get to the stage where I feel it is getting better and then there is a spate of lots of my contacts advising they have covid. Thankfully I still haven't had it yet. xx

    1. Yes, it's every other day to for check ups on the stint in the eye for two weeks, then weekly for 3-4 weeks. I was checking in with a few of the folks ill with Covid & that grouping is rising now to at least 12 of them that were together, so one event was the source. Makes me nervous; I still mask IF I'm going indoors. This group admits they hadn't been wearing their masks for a while now.

  2. I'm so pleased that the first stage of your husband's surgery went well; that's the first hurdle over.
I wonder how many people have Covid over here now that testing is not a thing any more. It really is an unpredictable virus isn't it?
Let's hope that Ms Spring is just around the corner and ready to jump into position as soon as Old Man Winter moves on!

    1. Thanks Deb, Mr Man is already feeling a lot more positive about how he's feeling & seeing. All the numbers that they use for rating the eye are good. I am SO ready for better weather.

  3. Good news on the medical front. Well, except for the covid. I think another round of boosters will occur for the vulnerable. My age makes me qualify, but I don’t know about you.

That coke decoration was purchases in the card aisle at Your Independent Grocer. I mean our, YIG. 🤓

    1. Thanks for letting me know where to get that cake topper. I have a family member's birthday coming up where I'd like to decorate to make special. We are very pleased with all the care Mr Man received at the hospital. The nurses were all so cheerful & very kind. I was most pleased that they took their time with my & all my after care questions.

    1. Thank you so much Ruth, appreciate those vibes. Mr Man was feeling a little low just before the surgery, so now that things seem to be going well, he's much more upbeat.

  5. I'm glad the surgery went well. I would think that would indicate the 2nd surgery would be similar...

I'm sorry about the Covid in your church. I hope everyone comes through ok. People seem to forget that it's still around :(

    What a pretty mug!

    1. That mug was a favourite, alas it did not survive some cupboard re-arranging & tumbled out & broke :( Mr Man is feeling so much more positive about going through the next surgery. They have managed his pain levels really quickly. I think the nurses deserve a big big raise - such an amazing team looked after us at the hospital.

  6. Four attempts today. And now my blog has gremlins too. I am SO over it all, in so many ways!

But more importantly, wonderful news about Mr Man's eye. I know firsthand what all this is like. (Well, secondhand but you know what I mean!) Well done on the chauffeuring - I know what you mean about the logistics of somewhere new.

Oh dear about the COVID cases. I do hope everyone pulls through fine. I no longer test as frequently as before but I am still one of very few mask wearers in the supermarket etc. I will feel better when warmer weather comes as it will be easier to insist on outdoors. Have been under the weather with "something" the past 10 days but testing negative so it remains a mystery but at least I can see others with a clear conscience. It's astonishing how readily people bury their heads.

    1. Gremlins!! maybe you need a professional gremlin buster. How frustrating for you. I do know what you mean about knowing what this is like, you've had a long road with your Mum & Dad's health needs & most recently with your sister. I'm not good driving in cities, especially when you know there are a lot of one way streets to encounter, so missing a turn becomes major. I hope that what ever you are fighting is maybe a cold, but I think there's so many other types of virus out there. I say, not too smugly, but I told them at the church, you should all be still wearing your masks indoors especially during the winter when you won't open the windows.

  7. Good news all round (except for the broken mug). Hope it continues.

    1. Thanks Chris. The mug was a loss as it was a perfect handle fit & content amount. I'm on the search for another. I got it from McDonalds.

    1. I got an email last night that two more are down with Covid & one is also hovering at maybe needing a hospital visit. I worry for them as for several this is their 2nd bout of Covid. We just don't know enough yet about long term affects.

  9. Glad to hear that the first surgery went well and your husband is feeling more positive about things. You'll have a lot of driving going back and forth for check ups, but, it's all worth it, isn't it?
Sorry to hear that several members of the church are down with Covid. Yes, it is still here, it has not gone away just because everyone is acting as if it has passed. :( I, too, am still fully masked when I go anywhere and I was very pleased to see that my tax accountant was wearing a mask when I went for my appointment, today.
Hope Ms. Spring will be able to nudge Mr. Winter aside. Mr. Winter needs to learn how to bow out, gracefully!
Hope the week ahead will be a good one for you and Mr. Man.

    1. Thanks Bless, so far the doctor is really pleased with everything & yes all of it will have been worth it as Mr Man is saving his eyesight. I know I get the side eye from many for still wearing a mask, but needs must.

  10. So glad to hear the surgery went well. Such a relief, especially with another one in the future. Love your take on winter and spring. You know I'm right there with you!

    1. Thank you Karen. I had said I wasn't going to do any purging of my craft stash during the 100 Day Project, but I think that was just a way to postpone the stress, so I've done a little. Old Man Winter & I are not friends but I've tried this winter to reframe my feelings ... it worked a little but now that Ms Spring is popping by I'm anxious to end my winter relationship (lol). When it is over, it is over!

  11. I'm so glad to read that your husband's surgery went well - it's always an anxious-making time. And especially with Covid around. Here, they're not even testing for nationally anymore, but there are lots of reports of people having it. We went to a concert last week and I wore a mask for the first time in ages. Gosh yes, it's been a long winter, hasn't it! We have sunshine today and it's so cheering. Your description of Old Man Winter and Ms Spring made me smile! It's especially frustrating when Old Man Winter takes up residence in your psyche too. Ms Spring needs a really long-handled and effective bristlely broom!

    1. Thanks Alexa, we are most grateful for a very skilled eye surgeon & a fantastic team at the hospital. I wear a mask anytime I'm indoors in a public space. Winter definitely took up too much space in my life this year. The lack of sunshine in January really had me down with the blues. Thank goodness for April sunshine :)
