TGIF - September 27th

So playing along with Dr Brene Brown's TGIF (Trusting, Grateful, Inspired & Fun)

Trusting: that Mr Man's scheduled (another) new type of treatment for the good eye will work.  It's thankfully 90% covered by our national health plan.  Because of the 3 surgeries on the left eye, the right eye has developed serve dryness.  It apparently is quite a common "reaction".  The treatment will "express" the lipid glands in the eye & one treatment can last up to 6 months!  Now we wait for the appointment.

Grateful: for blog friends' book recommendations.  I think I forgot to mention I read one recommended by Ruth,   The Flatshare, a delightful read,  there was some cooking talk in the book that inspired one of my SPSH finds.  I've just finished one from Karen's List, The Stationery Shop.  I had a lump in my throat at the end which spilled over into tears.  To me it confirms how connected we all are by events & choices we make in reaction to those events.

Inspired:  by this quote;  "We must not confuse the command to love with the disease to please."  ... Lysa Terkeurst

Fun: It's October coming up soon & for Canadians that means the  month of Thankful & Grateful.  The fabulous Cathy Z has a short online workshop for 31/30 Days of Thankful.  I am thankful that Cathy recognizes the need for 31 / 30 days of Thankful for both her Canadian customers, who celebrate Thanksgiving in October, hence 31 days & for her  American customers that celebrate Thanksgiving in November, hence only 30 days.  There is a F/B group which is no cost.  You can sign up here for Cathy Z's online class, which has a cost: czclasses

  1. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the eye treatment is successful for Mr Man. I know how frustrating eye problems are from my own experience. Are they hoping to cure his problems or is it a case of lifelong ongoing treatments?

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving over here so I may do a 31 days of thankful on my blog.

    1. The problems with the left eye are "fixed" but the eye injections for that eye will be life long. The good eye's dryness is hopefully curable & he had some other treatments to help but this new one is suppose to have longer lasting affects, I imagine he may need a few going forward. I think celebrating grateful or thanksgiving is a good idea at any time, it's just for us this side of the pond, it gets a specific holiday!

  2. Thanks for the mention! I'm off to look up The Stationery Shop...
Hope Mr Man's eye treatment is sorted out very soon and I love that quotation from Lysa Terkeurst.

  3. The Stationery Shop is one of the choices for the online book club I joined - it's the one that got my vote and even if it isn't the one that got the most votes, I think I am definitely going to read it anyway. The Flatshare was one of the book club choices too and I really enjoyed it.
I do hope that treatment works, dry eye can be so painful, we don't realise how much we need our tear ducts to work properly to lubricate the eyeball until they stop working or get blocked. Fingers crossed.

    1. The previous specialist Mr Man saw before for this dryness says it's all the computer time we spend, we don't blink enough & according to him, it makes for big problems for kids. Fingers crossed this new treatment is the fix for Mr Man's good eye.

    1. This circle of friends has featured in several of my scrapping pages. It was a (re)gift from my sister. I'm hoping that the treatment which is non-invasive decreases the need for all the drops he uses.

    1. You are most welcome. I just finished one that was recommended from an online group - I have yet to agree with their choices, so it's always a gamble.

  6. I enrolled in Cathy's class last year, and intend to do it on my own this year. I purchased a set of her stamps that I hope to put to good use. Fortunately, for me, I still have time to figure out exactly what kind of project I want to do. I also read The Flatshare and enjoyed it.

    1. I don't think I'll sign up for the actual class - I use the exchange rate as my defense. I have plans to do my own version of 31 Days of Grateful. I like her stamps with S.S.

    1. It was/is Dr Brene Brown's idea but it goes so well with my daily gratitude.

  9. I like that quote. And I enjoy seeing others book recommendations, but I need to stop adding to me "to be read" list and get more onto my "read" list!

    1. I know, my to be read list is quite long also but I just think of it as one of those things that will never be complete (col).
