  1. We knew it would be sooner rather then later, but somehow still shocking ... probably because the last image of her just 2 days before showed her looking well.

    1. I really expected her to rally; we needed her to rally but what she needed more was to rest & be with her strength & stay.

  2. England feels a very different place today, there is a sense of sadness wherever you go. What a wonderful Queen she was.

    1. It does feel a different world were our Queen is gone from it. I thought King Charles address today was quite a tribute.

  3. Thanks for posting. I thought you might. I am finding it very moving to witness tributes from around the world, even from places where Her Majesty was not head of state. Seeing the French and US flags flying at half mast over official buildings in Paris was emotional this morning. I didn't expect that.

    1. Her Majesty & I shared a love of horses, so of course I had to pick a horse related photo. Burmese was a gift to The Queen from the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) & she always said this mare was her favourite. Burmese's last public appearance was at Trooping the Colour in 1986, after which she retired. She was not replaced, as the Queen decided to ride in a phaeton (carriage) and review the troops from a dais from 1987 onwards, rather than train a new mount

  4. I second what Debs14 said ... the UK feels like a different place today. The sadness is everywhere, even a couple of friends who want an end to the monarchy are mourning her passing. She was a remarkable person xx

    1. In a world so bereft of true leadership, The Queen was the last true leader; a woman who put duty, respect & service ahead of her own pleasures & desires, these were her strengths, not might of sword or swaggering words. I thought King Charles first address to the nation (& commonwealth) was a heartfelt tribute to his beloved Mother.

    1. The Queen was an example of service, duty & respect. The younger generation could / should look to model themselves after her. (IMO)

  6. I don't think anyone was really ready for this. Queen Elizabeth was such a remarkable woman and a steadfast leader.

    1. She was amazing in many respects but I think we forget that she was a Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother to be mourned.
