TGIF -

Thank you to Dr Brene Brown for this meme.

Trusting: that the new OFF Backyard & Patio mosquito repellent works!  The mosquitoes are awful this year - large & far too many.
Source: Internet

Grateful: For the shade of the trees

Inspired:  by the quote from JRR Tolkien; "not all who wander are lost" which prompted me for this year's theme for our Summer Manifesto.  We had purchased a book "Back Roads of Ontario", which has given us 1-2 day out drives but also got me searching for some places that we can wander about in/at.  I think it's going to be a good summer.

Fun:  Mr Man & I recently had a wandering adventure day off the patio & at this particular conservation park, there was a swing bridge over the river .  Neither of us are good with heights, but we dared each other to be brave & walk across & back again. Sometimes pushing each other to do things out of our own mutual comfort zones is fun, but it's still a hard no from both of us to zip line across!!

  1. I'd be okay at crossing that bridge but am with you on refusing to try a zip line!

    1. Zip lines are the latest rage across all the gorges in this region, I'm not sure if I think OK fun for some or a blight on the landscape.

  2. The day tripping sounds great! Share some good ones with us (as I could probably get to them, too!). Mosquitos, and now those things I call "deer flies" or "triangle flies", the ones that literally follow you wherever you go, are hideous right now, aren't they? -Jenn

    1. We so far have been to Bellfountain (photo above) & The Badlands in Cheltenham - there's more of them to come next few weeks. The OFF product needs to be sprayed before you want to be outside & lasts for 3-4 hours.

  3. That sign does certainly indicate larger than normal mosquitoes - carrying off a man !!!!
Pleased to hear that you are finding new places to explore, and I wouldn't have zip wired across either!

    1. I think zip lining has replaced bungee jumping, which that I couldn't even watch. Several retreats for the ladies includes zip lining along with rope bridges in the tree tops - it suppose to push you out of your comfort zone & better prepare you for taking on new business ventures ...proving you aren't scared of anything or that you can push past your fears.

  4. I'm another who could go across the bridge but decline the zip line.
Mozzies are the downside of Summer - I seem to have developed an intolerance to their bites, which results if horrible swellings and looking as though I've burnt myself.

    1. Ouch those bites sound nasty - you are sweet meat to them. We are now getting the deer flies coming in & they are really nasty little buggers.

  5. We are huge fans of day trips, and off on one tomorrow to a couple of favorite spots on the Finger Lakes. I, too, am leery of heights, so have to think twice before heading across bridges like that. Your yard looks gorgeous.

    1. The yard has some wild spots which need attention, but mostly it's my happy place. I'm good with day trips & there's so much to discover in this region. I have read about the Finger Lakes & know that there are spots I'd like to visit.

  6. Oh I like swing bridges. I've never tried a zip wire, and they do look scary, but I reckon I could get myself up to it in the right company!

    1. This swing bridge was pretty stable. I once walked a very loose & long suspension bridge in BC - the Capilano suspension bridge - that was very scary. I've always said you are a brave soul, much braver than me.

  7. I love that quote! And setting off on a wander sounds a perfectly lovely thing to be doing in the summer. I'm not great with heights either - I like something to hold on to or some barrier between me and the drop!

    1. Sometimes just a wander without intended destination is so soul clearing ... from many of you photos, you live in an area that would be perfect for that.

  8. I'd enjoy the bridge but am not sure I'm strong enough for a zip line crossing lol. The wandering and day trips sound like fun adventures :)

    1. I like bridges, it's one reason I put it as an item on the SPSH (col). Day trips for us are what work best for adventures for now. Thankfully we live in an area rich with interesting things to see or do.

  9. I think we are doing a staycation this year. I need to dig out a couple of books we bought with interesting Ontario destinations.

    1. We have become masters of staycations. You're living in a great area for waterfall exploring. I recommend Waterfalls of Ontario by Mark Harris, for some really neat areas & his guide to each one is bang on.

  10. I am with you on no ziplining, but I've been trying to push the hubby to do a few more short day trips. We've had so many other things on the agenda, I actually miss getting in the car and going somewhere, nearly anywhere.

    1. I find for us the Summer Manifesto is a must otherwise we just end up doing nothing & that's what winter is for (col).
