One Photo, Twenty Words For December

I had seen in a catalogue & I wanted them; knew I couldn't afford their prices; so I made them.

  1. Wow, they're brilliant. How did you make them?

  2. Thank you Eileen. I made them both through a Christmas ceramics course. The pieces are created in a raw clay form from a mould, then I carefully clean off lines, marks or lumps, then they are fired; Father Christmas was then painted in different colours, the face was difficult & then a final firing; Santa & Baby Jesus were fired the first time, then I stained & sealed, no additional firings were needed. I've made a few other pieces, which I'll show later.

  3. That's fantastic. I think they deserve a much longer post. Santa has such a lovely face

    1. Thanks Sian. The face was hard for me, I don't have a steady hand, so my instructor was close at hand giving suggestions (orders). I stayed away from faces - you'll see in my next grouping.

    1. Thank you Louise. Ceramics is often considered the lazy pottery craft but with too many thumbs, I'll take it (col).
